Golda/goldie

I like the name: Goldive, this spelling instead of Goldyifu. It is pronounced [name_m]Gold[/name_m]-yee-va. I think [name_f]Golda[/name_f] or [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is a cute shorter name option. Less pronunciation issues, [name_f]Golda[/name_f] is user freindly as a child, but Goldive is more mature, exotic and lush for when she is older. Any thoughts? Any bad associations?

Well l love the name [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]. I came across a little child on Instagram named [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] and the name fit her really well. [name_m]Both[/name_m] [name_f]Golda[/name_f] and Goldive seem a little heavy for a child but if you’ll be calling her [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] a majority of the time, it seems fine. I will say I prefer [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] as a full name though. For some reason [name_f]Golda[/name_f] and Goldive look like product names…

[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] just makes me think of goldfish tbh…

I was fearful of the Midas touch jokes or perhaps [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] Han connections. Goldfish seems like a better connection, less derogatory. I knew a girl who went by munchkin and mousy as a nickname, which I always thought was derogatory.

The [name_f]Queen[/name_f] Godyifu who rode in commoner clothes to convince her husband from levying high taxes on her people. There is a brand of chocolate that a company decided to make and chose to honor her name and in [name_f]England[/name_f] there is a festival. The Americans are familiar with [name_f]Godiva[/name_f] spellings pronounced God-yee-va but it can be butchered and pronounced Go-Dive-a… It is in the same category of [name_u]Nike[/name_u], even though it is a name it is also a famous brand, or perhaps the same withe name [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] with the connection to the ghost.

[name_f]Golda[/name_f] seems dated to the 50’s but girly, [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] seems spunky and sassy

I love [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]! I know [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] doesn’t need to be short for anything, but I do prefer names with options (I’ve thought about [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]). Goldive is gorgeous - and you get [name_f]Evie[/name_f] if she ever wants it, too! Agreed that the Goldive or Goldiva spellings are the way to go. [name_f]Edit[/name_f]: maybe just Goldive. I don’t love the “diva” thing.

I didn’t think of [name_f]Evie[/name_f], thank you for pointing that out!

[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] has been a guilty pleasure of mine for some time. I think because of “gold fish” and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] Hawn that I couldn’t picture it on a child.

Not going to lie, when I saw Goldive, I thought of the chocolate [name_f]Godiva[/name_f] right away (not sure why though)! I feel like Goldive would be hard to pull off and I’m not big on the sound of [name_f]Golda[/name_f]; but I did really like the idea of [name_f]Evie[/name_f] as a nickname!

I like [name_f]Golda[/name_f] and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]. Family names for me though. [name_f]Golda[/name_f]'s a bit somber and Old World, and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]'s a bit lighter and flirtier. [name_f]Golda[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] in mood - pretty words, but probably strong serious women who survive war and famine?

I toyed with [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] because while [name_f]Golda[/name_f]/[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is a name on my side it NEVER appears on his, and [name_f]Mary[/name_f]/[name_f]Marie[/name_f] is a name on his side that’s never ever used in mine. But ironically, [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] actually feels somehow a bit nickname-ish to me in a way? Certainly lighter in mood.

I actually don’t mind [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] has a full name. I am not so sure about Goldive though. This is my first time seeing it. The two things that initially came to mind were gold-digger (maybe because [name_m]Gold[/name_m]-dive) and “dive” as in a dive bar or a dilapidated building.

you read my mind in description of [name_f]Golda[/name_f] and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]. :stuck_out_tongue: I like marigold, although I think of [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] the deputy [name_m]Sheriff[/name_m] off of Murder she wrote second season.

Thank you for your replies. Goldive is going on my ever growing list.

[name_f]My[/name_f] List so far:

[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
Goldive
Vespertine
Raphaella
Ankaret
[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f]

List of Consideration but not sure:
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Corisande[/name_f]
Clarimund/esclarmonde

I agree with this, I do strongly think of the chocolate (I have many chocholics in my house).
That being said, whilst I am not particularly a fan of [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], I think it can work as a nickname for [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].

Well, I’m a chocoholic myself, so it seem slightly befitting, She could have the nickname Dulcie if it came down to it.

So I guess I do not think chocolate is that bad of an association compared to butt and some other horrid things out there.
