I think you could still use [name]Theodore[/name], especially given that you’re not yet pregnant so they’ll be different ages. My cousin “stole” a name my sister said she wanted to use and re-named her baby that name. My sister, 4 years later when she finally got pregnant used the name as well. The kids see each other maybe once a year (sometimes less) and they think it’s cool that they share a name, so they always team up and play together, even with the 4 year age difference.
If not [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Walter[/name] sounds nice with [name]Susannah[/name]. I like [name]Wallace[/name] and [name]Arthur[/name] as well. They all sound old-timey, like [name]Susannah[/name], but without sounding too elderly.
I know two baby Theos born in just the last couple of months…I agree with the poster who said you dodged a bullet, I think it’s going to get much more popular.
[name]Wally[/name]/[name]Wallace[/name] is my grandfather’s name and I would love to use it (but couldn’t for offending my other grandfather whose name I don’t care for) It’s quirky and a statement name all in one.
I understand how you feel! I really like the name [name]Theodore[/name] too, but can’t use it because it is too matchy with our last name.
I really like [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Cole[/name] & [name]Hugo[/name] from your list. [name]Cole[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name] are strong sounding names and seem modern yet have depth through years and years of use. [name]Elliot[/name] is similarly modern but old but sounds softer to me. [name]Hugo[/name] has a GREAT meaning too!
Other names that I like that have the same feel as [name]Theodore[/name]:
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Charles[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name]
[name]Anthony[/name]
[name]Kenneth[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name]
[name]Chester[/name] (but maybe that doesn’t work with your last name)
[name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Lawrence[/name]
Thank you, everyone! I am really liking [name]Matteo[/name], nn [name]Teo[/name], and have added that and [name]Everett[/name] to my list. I also really like [name]Charles[/name], [name]Arthur[/name] and [name]Walter[/name] but don’t think they sound good with our surname. You have all been very helpful!
Sorry that happened to you! I think of the names you suggested, [name]Wesley[/name] is the most similar in style to [name]Theodore[/name], and is just a sweet. Good luck!
I love [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Cole[/name]! [name]How[/name] about [name]August[/name] nn [name]Gus[/name]? It has the same fell as [name]Theodore[/name]. I agree that [name]Theodore[/name] is getting more popular all the time.
I really want you to use [name]Wesley[/name] nn [name]Wes[/name]. Probably because I love this name but absolutely can’t use it since it’s an ex-bf’s name! (I liked the name before him and so my liking has nothing to do with him…but still, don’t think that would go over well with the DH!)
But also because [name]Wesley[/name] nn [name]Wes[/name] seems similar to [name]Theodore[/name] nn [name]Theo[/name]. And, [name]Wesley[/name] and [name]Susannah[/name] seem so well-suited. [name]Both[/name] sound like classic, American settler names to me. Unfortunately, [name]Wesley[/name] is more popular these days…one strike against it.
I also like [name]Cormac[/name] and [name]Roscoe[/name] from your list, and the suggestion of something with the nn [name]Leo[/name]. Also, [name]Frederick[/name] nn [name]Freddie[/name].
I don’t like the sound of [name]Julian[/name] and [name]Susanna[/name] together, too much strong ooo at the beginnings…And [name]Elliot[/name] is okay with [name]Susannah[/name], but I think it’s swiftly climbing the charts…I know several baby Elliots.
[name]Wallace[/name] might run together with your S____ surname??
BTW, I’m with you…I think I wouldn’t use the name, either. We have good friends with a baby [name]Judah[/name], a name I love, but now wouldn’t use enough though they are in a different country than us most of the time!
