I haven’t decided on this name being the “it” name. I’ve been running ideas through my head. In the past, I have been attracted to many names, but some of them had an instant attraction to me, but than that attraction wore off pretty quickly, others a little more slowly. I want something old, rare, pretty, and memorable, but it needs to have a meaning or a connection for it to be worthy to consider. Eustolia is one of the few names that I am a attracted to because of the farming connection. Through my ancestry, a farming community/town was created by my ancestors, which I had the pleasure of spending some of my childhood there. I had some of my best memories there.
So far I have come up with these first names, that I have a committed connection with:
Esclarmond
[name_f]Raphaela[/name_f]
Goldgeve
Morvoren
These are the names that still Sparkle:
Audefleda
Adelrune
[name_f]Corisande[/name_f]
Vespertine
What are your thoughts on Eustolia in the real world?
Hmm. [name_m]Eustace[/name_m] grounds it, if in an unattractive way, and it kind of fits an [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] kind of trend faintly, and old lady names starting with E like [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_f]Ethel[/name_f]. But I just hear “You stole”…I think it would probably be pretty problematic in the real world, but nothing a good nickname wouldn’t mostly solve. If you like the meaning so much, [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] would have a related meaning.
I hear the ‘you stole’ bit as well, but there are so many gorgeous Eu-names to choose from!
Euadne
Euanthe
Eunomia
Euodia (this is my favourite I think it means ‘good fragrance’. Scent is one of my favourite senses, I especially like its connection to memory)
Eumelia
Euphrosyne / Euphrosine
Euthalia
Euthemia / Euthymia
[name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]
Eudoxia
Euclea / Eukleia
Euporia
Euryanassa
Eurynome
Eusebia
Euphrasia
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] Euphrosyne but was fearful that the phonetics were too out there and harder than Eustolia. [name_f]My[/name_f] three favorite EU names athat absolutely [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] are : Euphrosyne, Eustolia, and Eumeneia (eeyoo-men-ay-a)
eumeneia “benevolence”.
Eumeneia is gorgeous! That would be my favourite of your 3! I’m also very fond of [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Eulalia[/name_f], I’m not sure why I didn’t mention those.
I’m not sure Euphrosyne is more usable than Eustolia, but I prefer Euphrosyne still. I like how unexpected she is. Eustolia has a lot of similarities to other names, the -lia ending and the sort of unfashionable [name_m]Eustace[/name_m]. Euphrosyne is much more intriguing and otherworldly [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
I think Eustolia is a lovely name, and I didn’t hear the you stole until it was pointed out. I can see [name_f]Lia[/name_f] (maybe Stolie) being nicknames she might pick up from it. Your own love for the name, and the meaning it holds for you, give it that special touch (and especially for your daughter, when she is inevitably asked how she came by that pretty, unusual name!) As for the other names, I cannot see them faring too well in the real world, except for…
[name_f]Corisande[/name_f], which I see doing better as a middle name. Eustolia [name_f]Corisande[/name_f].
and [name_u]Vesper[/name_u], with a drop of the -tine. (This would come with a religious association from Christianity.)
Thanks for replying, Yay, someone else sees the beauty in Eustolia!
I love [name_f]Corisande[/name_f], and hand’t considered [name_f]Corisande[/name_f] as a middle name option for Eustolia but I had for Eumeneia, Eumenaia (Benevolence) [name_f]Corisande[/name_f] ( Heart maiden) Florimell (Sweet honey flower), which created such a lovely, elegant and pretty imagery in my mind.
I had in mind Eustolia Candelaria. I thought of Candelaria because candles were consider light and life. Generally when you remember someone you light a candle. My connection with the name Eustolia and The symbolism paired with Eustolia’s meaning, “good harvest”, which I think of Wheat field and Corn fields, created such a lovely golden earthy image in mind.
Plus, Candelaria is so frilly and unexpected, but now I’m going to have to consider [name_f]Corisande[/name_f] and run that by my Dh too.
Soo many great middle name options, Thanks.
I can get [name_f]Eula[/name_f] as a nickname out of Eumeneia, since I too, like [name_f]Eulalia[/name_f]-just not as much as my top 3, AND still get to use one of my top 3’s! Of coarse I can use [name_f]Eula[/name_f] for Eustolia as well, which would give the name an advantage and make it more user friendly. As for Euphrosyne it is in the same category with my other 2 EU name fav’s, its out there but [name_m]WAY[/name_m] less familiar to the eye and native tongue of the US. [name_f]Eula[/name_f] would make it user friendly too, perhaps, Uphra , which would be an interesting twist off the name and still make it a cool nickname. Might even help or prep people for the phonetics of her real name…
I think that [name_m]Eustace[/name_m]'s dated feel has an appeal to it much like [name_m]Lemuel[/name_m], [name_f]Pearline[/name_f], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_f]Ida[/name_f] ect… Those older names seem to be making a big come back.
I actually really like Eustolia! I don’t see the huge deal in the “you stole” aspect, besides it being a bit of a nuisance to her. After all, I can’t count how many times I’ve heard, “Hey [name_f]Nadia[/name_f], are you naughty?” A bit annoying, but definitely not hindering to my development! And I think Stolie for a nickname is absolutely ADORABLE.
Does anyone know it is popular among the Spanish community? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think Is it because of the connection the [name_m]Saint[/name_m]? Or does have an entirely different meaning or representation?
