[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
I’ve been thinking about the name [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] recently. I think it is so sweet and spunky. I wish it was a name that I heard more often on its own. That got me thinking about [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and the more formal [name_f]Grace[/name_f] too. I fell in love with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] in the last couple of years or so after meeting a very spunky teenage [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I think it goes with many of my other favorites really well, although I’m questioning whether it works with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. Is [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] too Frozen? I love the simplicity of [name_f]Grace[/name_f] as a first name. I know one, and it fits her so well! This wouldn’t discourage me from potentially using the name myself because she is a little over a decade younger than I am. I also love the thought of [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]. I don’t want to use two names that start with the same letter out of personal preference, but if I did, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] would be very sweet! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], or [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]? Are there names or nicknames you wish got more love? The thought of a little [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] is just bringing me so much joy right now!
I’d love to hear what you think, thank you so much!
I prefer formal names that way the child can have more freedom. I think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] (goes by middle name as Gracie) would be nice. Not too Frozen themed. I personally prefer [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] so I would do [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] (same middle situation) and then [something] [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I’m unsure with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] also because of the pronunciation issues. I knew two girls, both [name_f]Anna[/name_f], one pronounced AN-a and the other ON-a. People switched their pronunciations all the time and they were constantly correcting people. They didn’t even look alike.
I like [name_f]Anna[/name_f] best - sweet but strong! I do think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are a bit Frozen but not too much that you couldn’t use them as sisters! [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_u]Hazel[/name_u], [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] would make cute sister sets!
[name_f]Gracie[/name_f] is quite charming - it’s got a bit of sparkle, that for me, [name_f]Grace[/name_f] doesn’t really have. [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] and [name_u]Willow[/name_u], [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] would make sweet sibsets
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I raise hogs and our son named our sow [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]. I love saying her name! I will say though that every Grace/Gracie I’ve known has been a real spitfire, hog [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] included! lol
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] isn’t bad. I’ve known some cool Annas. It just feels very basic to me. Like [name_u]John[/name_u]. I think I’d like it more as a double barrel name. Something like [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]. Actually, I’ve known a couple [name_f]Anna[/name_f] Graces which I find funny since they have the same meaning.
I really love [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], and [name_f]Gracie[/name_f], they’re all on my list! I think my favourite is [name_f]Gracie[/name_f], so sweet and sparkly . Of course, you could have her as a nickname for [name_f]Grace[/name_f] too. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are a bit too Frozen for me, but I think you could get away with it.
@nameblossom Thank you so much! There’s just something so special about [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]! And I’ve never met anyone who was just [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]. This is to say the only [name_u]Josie[/name_u] I’ve ever met was just [name_u]Josie[/name_u], and off the top of my head, I’ve never met any [name_u]Josie[/name_u]. Also the first [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] I ever met was an adult in her early 40’s. To my knowledge, [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is her full name. So I think [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] is beautiful and sweet. I think it’s perfect on its own.
I’m loving [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] so much right now!
@Greyblue Thank you so much! For what it’s worth, I think you think you carry the name [name_f]Grace[/name_f] so beautifully! You have definitely made me more a fan than I was before joining Nameberry!
I love all your suggestions for sisters to [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (because they’re both nicknames for more common formal names!) and [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] and [name_u]Willow[/name_u] are so sweet!
@PRSing Thank you so much! I appreciate you bringing up the different pronunciations of the name name [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and the changing pronouns in the case of the people you know. That is something I hadn’t thought of.
I also have such a soft spot for [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]! Since I wouldn’t use names that start with the same letter, I was thinking that [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] or [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] would be cute as opposed to [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f].
@benton_s_mama Thank you so much! This makes me happy, I can absolutely picture a hog named [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]! I agree that it definitely seems like a name for a spitfire.
I love the idea of using [name_f]Anna[/name_f] as part of a double barrel name! [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] is very sweet. I’ve also thought of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], which may eliminate some of the potential awkwardness of using [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. I still love [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] though, so that is hard! I think my favorite double names right now (in no particular order) are [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Anna[/name_f] she’s very simple, elegant, understated and timeless. Personally I do not find [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] & [name_f]Anna[/name_f] too frozen I think they feel very pretty together and just feel so timeless. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] & [name_f]Anna[/name_f] are a pretty pairing but I agree I’m not massively keen on sibling sets sharing the same initials.
Moving onto [name_f]Grace[/name_f] I love her! [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is so gorgeous a lovely virtue name that feels classic, has a touch of old school Hollywood glamour, has lovely connotations with the [name_u]Christian[/name_u] concept of grace and a touch of Christmassy magic. I do love [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] she’s so adorable with a southern flair but I do prefer [name_f]Grace[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Gracie[/name_f].
Out of the two names my favourite is [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Grace[/name_f] works better with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] & [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] such a pretty sibling set. I also like [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] & [name_f]Grace[/name_f] together.
@Indigoskies Thank you so much! I just think [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] is so spunky, sweet, and fun! I like [name_f]Grace[/name_f] nn. [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] too. I can see myself calling her [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] all the time, but I do like the idea of using [name_f]Grace[/name_f] nn. [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] to give her options.
@tori101 Thank you so much! [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are timeless together, I agree. I definitely think they are usable as a set, and I do like like them together. But it’s hard to separate the similarities to Frozen. So I would probably use [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Molly[/name_f], or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. I have a soft spot for both [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] so I would have to choose. While I have no problem with other people using matching initials, I don’t think it’s for me. I do think the connection it can create between siblings is sweet though!
I do love [name_f]Grace[/name_f] for the connection to Christianity! It was also the name of one of my great-grandmothers on my mom’s side. [name_u]An[/name_u] aunt has [name_f]Grace[/name_f] as a middle name. I don’t see her often, so I’d be using [name_f]Grace[/name_f] because I like the name rather than as an honor name for her.
[name_f]My[/name_f] family is full of people who love nicknames, so I can definitely see myself naming her [name_f]Grace[/name_f], but calling her [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] all the time! That was my thoughts in jumping straight to [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]. I’ve been thinking lately about why names bring me joy. I love the fact that naming her [name_f]Grace[/name_f] gives her options, but I also think that [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] is easy to switch to [name_f]Grace[/name_f] if she wants to go that route when she’s older. I also agree that [name_f]Grace[/name_f] goes beautifully with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]! I haven’t figured out why, but I think [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] is the name out of these options that is bringing me the most joy right now!
@Sailor22 Thank you so much! [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is such a pretty name! I feel like it’s unexpected as a first name. It would be strong, but also sweet. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is an aunt’s middle name, and I’m not honoring her. I’d use the name just because I like it. I’m nowhere close to having children, I just LOVE names. And within my own family, I know exactly who I want to honor. I think [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is a name that is established enough that it can be used without necessarily honoring someone. It’s such a great name!
I love [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. I would name a daughter [name_f]Grace[/name_f], if it were me and use [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] as a nn. [name_f]Anna[/name_f], does not remind me of Frozen at all, but then I am not surrounded by children and have never watched the film. It is a long time ago, now though, and I don’t think it would make most people think ‘Frozen’ instantaneously. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is a classic, long-standing name.
All in all, though, I think I would choose [name_f]Grace[/name_f] with the nn [name_f]Gracie[/name_f].
