Thoughts on the name [name_m]Graeme[/name_m]?
Is the spelling understandable or unusual?
I love the idea of the nickname [name_u]Gray[/name_u] and [name_f]Em[/name_f]!
I adore [name_m]Graeme[/name_m]/[name_m]Graham[/name_m]. I personally would use the [name_m]Graham[/name_m] spelling, live in the states, and slightly prefer the [name_u]GRAY[/name_u]-əm pronunciation. I adore [name_u]Gray[/name_u] also as a stand alone name.
I think use of this name really depends on the country you’re in. I think the [name_m]Graeme[/name_m] spelling is more prominent/understood in the UK, and much less so in the US as lovemysweeties said!
The name itself is quite lovely though, and I adore the nickname [name_u]Gray[/name_u].
Where I live [name_m]Graeme[/name_m] is a well known alternative spelling of [name_m]Graham[/name_m].
Personally I find [name_m]Graeme[/name_m]/[name_m]Graham[/name_m] to be rather dated. It’s a “dad name” over here.
I like [name_m]Graeme[/name_m], especially this spelling - it’s my dad’s name so I’m probably biased. As far as I know he had no trouble with spelling, and was often called [name_u]Gray[/name_u]/[name_u]Grey[/name_u] which I love. I don’t think it’s too old sounding at all - if [name_u]Grey[/name_u] & [name_m]Greyson[/name_m] are on the rise then [name_m]Graeme[/name_m] is a great alterntive
[name_m]Graeme[/name_m] and [name_m]Graham[/name_m] are very ‘dad’ names where I live, I don’t like them. They’re like the male version of [name_f]Linda[/name_f], [name_f]Sue[/name_f], [name_f]Tina[/name_f], [name_f]Sally[/name_f], [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]…
P.S. I know a lot of Grahams/Graemes and they were their full name, no nickname. The ‘em’ sound isn’t in it either so I wouldn’t say [name_f]Em[/name_f] is a natural nickname.
Not sure where you’re from, but it’s not a “dad name” in the U.S. I think I would spell it [name_m]Graeme[/name_m]. I got the pronunciation automatically. I know in the U.S you might get the Grahm pronunciation, like the cracker if you spell it [name_m]Graham[/name_m] because of the scientist/telephone inventor [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_u]Bell[/name_u].
Honestly, I saw “Grandma”, maybe I’m alone here. If you’re going for [name_m]Graham[/name_m], I much prefer that spelling. I’m in the US, btw.
