My husband likes [name]Grant[/name], I like [name]Graham[/name] but tonight I stumbled upon…[name]Grantham[/name]. At first it seemed like a combo of both, then it dawned on me that I’ve heard it a million times in Downton [name]Abbey[/name].
Of these 3 names…[name]Grant[/name] is my favorite. [name]Graham[/name] sounds weak to me. And [name]Grantham[/name] seems ridiculous. Excuse my rudeness
Which way were you planning on pronouncing [name]Graham[/name], and do you live in the US or UK (or elsewhere)? I like both [name]Grant[/name] and [name]Graham[/name] but if you don’t pronounce [name]Graham[/name] the way most people in your area will assume it’s said, it’s going to be a pain. [name]Grantham[/name] I haven’t heard before but it strikes me as kind of fussy. If it’s something you and your husband both can compromise on and be happy with, though, by all means, use it.
[name]Grantham[/name] just sounds silly to my ears. [name]Grant[/name] is handsome, but I love [name]Graham[/name] even more… I use the [name]Gray[/name]-um way of saying it, I don’t really like just “gram”.
I like both [name]Grant[/name] and [name]Graham[/name]. I think [name]Grantham[/name] is a little too closely associated with Downton [name]Abbey[/name], and may become one of those blip names that’s associated with a particular year.
i like the idea of grantham…but i feel like it’s hard to say, or use in a sentence etc. - it’s just a bit awkward, in my opinion. i feel like there must be a better solution to your dilema, i’m just not sure what it is exactly haha!
A cousin has 4 boys, 2 of which are [name]Grant[/name] and [name]Graham[/name], so I do like both of those. That also makes [name]Grantham[/name] sound silly to me. But if it’s the only one you guys can agree on, I’d say use it!
I prefer [name]Graham[/name] myself, but I pronounce it as “[name]Gram[/name]”. I never realized there was a second way to pronounce it! I’m not fond of either of the other options at all. They just don’t sound as pleasing, plus when I try to imagine [name]Graham[/name] I see somebody smart and understanding. Which may be complete nonsense, but it’s just what comes to mind.
Well I love [name]Grant[/name] but if [name]Grantham[/name] works better with your surname use that officially and call him [name]Grant[/name] everyday.
I like [name]Graham[/name] the best! [name]Grant[/name] is fine too- it was one we considered. I didn’t really mind [name]Grantham[/name] but when I said it aloud it sounded like someone with a lisp saying ‘grandson’.
I think that the name might be teased. I also think it may be mispronounced because of the “th”.
I think if you both like [name]Grantham[/name], then use it and use [name]Grant[/name] as a nn.
I like [name]Graham[/name]! [name]One[/name] of me good friends is named [name]Graham[/name] and people always tell him they like his name. Since where I live it is mostly associated with crackers, you have to let people pronounce this word name the way they are used to. Plus, there are lots of really fun nicknames that come from [name]Graham[/name] for his friends to call him.
