Sweet, charming [name_f]Ada[/name_f] is my favourite though [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is lovely too
I like [name_f]Ada[/name_f], but I feel like I would probably shorten it to ‘Ads’ sounding like ‘Aids’ which I’m not sure about.
I voted for [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], but I love [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] too.
I voted for [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] seems too childish.
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] is the only one I find usable.
I enjoy [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] immensely, but I think it’s best as a used-every-day nickname instead of a on-the-birth-certificate name. I wonder if you used [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and called her [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]? I’m also a big fan of [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], and while most parents may get [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] the Pooh from that, I don’t think that many kids will. It doesn’t seem popular among my daughters preschool anyway. [name_f]Ada[/name_f] is sweet and simple too. I actually love the idea of sisters called [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f], but nicknamed a [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] and [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].
Of the four, [name_f]Ada[/name_f] is my own favourite - short, sweet, spunky & sophisticated all in just three letters! It’s lovely, and a great bonus that it’s a namesake for you. I also think it would be pretty easy to avoid calling [name_f]Ada[/name_f] “Aids”…[name_f]Ada[/name_f] is definitely short enough to not be prone to a nickname at all.
It’s a great discovery, to find a favourite in your tree. [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is sweet.
My favourite is [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] with the nickname [name_u]Freddie[/name_u].
I adore [name_f]Mae[/name_f], closely followed by [name_f]Ada[/name_f].
I’m usually all for putting nicknames on the BC, but personally I don’t get [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] at all.
Is my order of preference. I’ve never come to like [name_f]Ada[/name_f].
I voted [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] because it’s adorable and quirky, but on reflection I’m wondering if I was a bit hasty! I’m not sure I’d like to be called [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] now, as an adult woman (unless it was short for [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] or some other “[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] best” name).
I’m going to put in a vote for [name_f]Ada[/name_f] as well. Simple, strong, vintage but in a more timeless way than [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] (which is awesome but definitely feels more stylised-vintage), and with a great feminist namesake in [name_f]Ada[/name_f] Lovelace.
My friend has a 4-year-old [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and I’ve never ever heard anyone shorten it to “Ades”. She gets [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Vada[/name_f] or mostly just [name_f]Ada[/name_f].
Thanks, everyone! I’m a little surprised that [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is in the lead. I do like [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] nn [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] is growing on me.
