Greek Cypriot Nephew Ideas

So in some wonderful news, I have been informed my first nephew is in the works & have been asked to assist in the naming of him :face_holding_back_tears:

Criteria is something Greek that’s still wearable, but also tied to the culture (the full brief was “it can’t be [name_m]Agamemnon[/name_m], but it can’t be Gerald”)

Relatives in his gen of the family include [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] (nn Rafi), [name_m]Andreas[/name_m], & [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m] (nn Leo) — probably looking for something with similar vibes

I will of course be trawling through to find possibilities, but (as yous may already know) my taste tends to lean outlandish so I need to enlist my fellow berries to help me find those wearable options pls :pray:t2:

Oh! And to give a definition of their view of outlandish — [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] is a bit too out there for them, and they’re ruling mythology names a probable no go :broken_heart:

You’ll have to ensure these are sufficiently tied to heritage, but I like:

[name_m]Christos[/name_m]
[name_m]Artem[/name_m]
[name_m]Stavros[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Marcus[/name_m] / [name_m]Markus[/name_m]
[name_m]Max[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
Antonis
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] / [name_m]Toby[/name_m]
Stelios
Lucas/Lukas
Vasilis

Would say Theo/Theodore but too popular for me!

Congratulations! I’m not 100% sure by your description if you need the name to be wearable in Cyprus or abroad, so these will be a mix of both…

Alexis / Alexios
Alexandros
Aris (I know you said no mythology names, but with the Greek spelling & pronunciation the connection isn’t so obvious?)
Harris (not Greek, but it sounds the same as the Greek Haris, a common name used as a short form for other Har- names) / Haris
Emmanuel
Ionas
Perseas nn Percy
Nikolas / Nikolaos nn Niko(s)
Kosmas nn Kosmo / Cosmas nn Cosmo
Maximos nn Max
Ilias / Elias
Thomas
Zacharias
Kostas
Phineas
Nestor
Arion
Thalis
Daniil
Samuil
Marios
Pavlos

Maybe [name_m]Alexios[/name_m]? Has the option of the very wearable [name_m]Alex[/name_m] or the more unique Xio for a nickanme. That’s my first thought.

Oh good point, sorry! They’re UK based, so ideally something that’s wearable here (or has a wearable nn like Leonidas)

Disclaimer: I have no ties to Greek culture whatsoever, so these could be tremendously outdated or in some other way inappropriate. But I thought the challenge was fun.
