Any cool names from Greek or [name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology? DH likes [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] but I’m not sold on it, I’m wondering if maybe there is something in the same vein that we would both like!

This is going to be a long list 'cause I actually really love classic Greek and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] names (and happened to take a course on Greek and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology) so bear with me and hopefully there’ll be at least one name you’ll be sold on
Apollonius: not a mythological character but a writer! Apollonius of [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] was a scholar and librarian at the Library of [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] and wrote the Argonautica, an epic poem about the Greek myth of [name_m]Jason[/name_m] and the Argonauts. He was actually an extremely intelligent man and really showed this off in his work. I think it’s kind of an underrated name. It might be a bit of a mouthful but, just in case [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] is too common, this could be a cool alternative.
[name_m]Jason[/name_m]: Speaking of the Argonauts! If you would like something more common, [name_m]Jason[/name_m] is a Greek hero and king who led a famous voyage to find The [name_u]Golden[/name_u] Fleece. [name_m]Jason[/name_m] as a name is nice 'cause it can blend into today’s names but it also carries the heroic namesake.
[name_m]Aeneas[/name_m] (uh-NEE-us): From [name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology, we have a Trojan refugee and the founder of [name_m]Rome[/name_m] (sort of, he’s an ancestor of [name_m]Romulus[/name_m] and [name_m]Remus[/name_m]). [name_m]Aeneas[/name_m] was a hero in the Trojan war who managed to flee the city of [name_m]Troy[/name_m] during its fall and led his fellow survivors to what would now be considered [name_m]Rome[/name_m] as told in the epic poem, [name_m]Virgil[/name_m]'s Aeneid. He’s just that guy who wants to do the right thing for his people and, though he makes a few mistakes, he ultimately succeeds in his goal and goes down as [name_m]Rome[/name_m]'s first hero. Super heroic, but I totally understand why it would be unusable.
[name_m]Troy[/name_m]: Place-name. I know it’s a fallen city, BUT it was also the most advanced city of its time and, had [name_u]Paris[/name_u] not stolen [name_f]Helen[/name_f] and doomed the city, it should have won the war (which is why the war lasted for so long. The Trojans did not go down without a fight). It’s noble and strong.
[name_m]Ajax[/name_m]: Super tough guy. Like, he was a major fighter in the Trojan War. It’s not a common name, and can have a nickname like [name_m]Jax[/name_m] or [name_u]Jackie[/name_u].
[name_m]Hector[/name_m]: (my mind is on The Iliad right now). Apart from [name_m]Achilles[/name_m], he was the greatest fighter in the war and I don’t think that gets talked about enough. He is both a fighter and a family man who just wants to do what’s right for his city.
[name_m]Achilles[/name_m]: kind of hard to avoid on a list like this
[name_m]Odysseus[/name_m]: He’s similar to [name_m]Hector[/name_m] in that he’s both a fighter and a family man who just wants to do the right thing. He’s also known for his cunning intelligence and ability to persuade people.
[name_m]Orpheus[/name_m]: He’s a great (possibly the greatest) musician and poet in Greek and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology. His power was so great that he was able to do the unthinkable and enter The Underworld to retrieve his wife, [name_f]Eurydice[/name_f]. Might be a tough name to use but still worth mentioning.
[name_m]Ovid[/name_m]: [name_m]Roman[/name_m] poet who wrote the Metamorphoses, a book of Greek myths translated for a [name_m]Roman[/name_m] audience and strung together as a cohesive narrative poem. I personally think it’s a cool name (reminds me of [name_m]David[/name_m]) but I get why it might not be a favourite.
[name_m]Eros[/name_m]: the Greek god of erotic love. There’s a really nice love story between him and a mortal woman named [name_f]Psyche[/name_f] (also known as the tale of [name_m]Cupid[/name_m] and [name_f]Psyche[/name_f]). It’s sort of like Beauty and the Beast (except the Beast is an attractive god).
[name_m]Ares[/name_m]: the Greek god of war. Iconic and strong like [name_m]Apollo[/name_m].
[name_m]Jupiter[/name_m]: the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] counterpart of [name_m]Zeus[/name_m]. [name_m]Worth[/name_m] mentioning on this list
[name_m]Adonis[/name_m]: the mortal love of [name_f]Venus[/name_f]. The longest Italian poem of all time is Boccaccio’s Adone. It’s a tragic love story because she will live forever and be forced to watch him die and yet can’t let go of her love for him. (also, [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] [name_m]Creed[/name_m]'s son )
[name_m]Theseus[/name_m]: the slayer of the Minotaur. I just think it’s a cool name
Phineus: an oracle in the Argonautica who helps [name_m]Jason[/name_m] on his quest. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is becoming a popular name again and Phineus can be a nice alternative.
Okay, so this is my list. I tried to do a mix of somewhat normal and totally out there names. I know I’m probably missing someone but I figure someone else on this forum will fill in the gaps for me. I hope there’s a name here that you’ll buy
