I really love the name [name]Greer[/name]. It sounds amazing with our last name. Does it work for a boy or is it strictly feminine? Please be honest! I only have boys so we have plenty of girl names left over from our previous pregnancies. I feel like I am running out of cool boy names and in the event we have another boy I need to be prepared!!!
Honestly - it’s strictly feminine. I definitely wouldn’t use [name]Greer[/name] for a boy. If you call your son [name]Greer[/name], it might seem like you really really wanted a girl, so you just gave your son a girls name!
I think [name]Greer[/name] sounds like a girl’s name. This site says it’s a contraction of [name]Gregor[/name]. [name]Gregor[/name] could be a cool boy’s names.
The only person I know named [name]Greer[/name] is a 25 year old guy. So unlike the other people who have responded so far I do think it can be used for a boy. The guy I know loves his name and has never had any negative comments about it.
Of course!
[name]Greer[/name] is my #1 green name- I like it equally for a boy or girl. I find the sound pretty harsh so it leans a bit more masculine.
I originally thought it was masculine name before I joined nameberry. But it is unisex, so why not? The name isn’t used enough on either gender so its not like it is obviously feminine/masculine. If you love it go for it. :]
Thank you for all the feedback. It seems to be split down the middle but this is Nameberry so I expect you guys to be more astute when it comes to names…I truly do think [name]Greer[/name] is too harsh sounding for a girl, too. But for a boy I like it, especially with my last name which is similar to that [name]Greer[/name] [name]Garson[/name] someone mentioned. I don’t know who that is but I’ll do a google search. Thanks again!
[name]Greer[/name] is one of our family names; I had a great-uncle [name]Greer[/name] and boy cousin [name]Greer[/name]. Also had a long-ago boyfriend who was [name]Grier[/name], again a family name. I say use blue or pink, or it would also be a good mn.
I find [name]Greer[/name] is one of those names that gets odd responses from people. If you suggest [name]Greer[/name] for a girl, people say it is too masculine and harsh sounding. If you suggest it for a boy, it is a a girl’s name.
There was a previous thread back in [name]September[/name] about [name]Greer[/name] as a girl’s name.
Personally, I like it for either boy or girl. It is not my favorite name and I agree that it has a harsh sound to it.
I thought it was a boy’s name. I don’t know who [name]Greer[/name] [name]Garson[/name] is either…but I think it sounds way more masculine than feminine.
