Greta vs. Freya

[name]Hi[/name] everyone,

1st time posting, but I’m just curious, which name do you think is more feminine and which do you prefer:

[name]Greta[/name] or [name]Freya[/name]?

Thanks!

[name]Freya[/name] is lovely! I absolutely adore [name]Freya[/name].

Unfortunately, I don’t share the same affection for [name]Greta[/name]. It’s better than [name]Gretchen[/name], but not by much. Also, the only name association I have with it is [name]Greta[/name] [name]Von[/name] Susteren. Which depending on your political views, may or may not be an issue. :stuck_out_tongue:

I like them both! [name]Freya[/name] feels a little fresher and more feminine though!

[name]Freya[/name] is more feminine but [name]Greta[/name] is more unusual - like them both.

I prefer [name]Greta[/name]. It seems feminine and more innocent/sweet than [name]Freya[/name] to me. [name]Both[/name] names are lovely choices though.

I prefer [name]Greta[/name] but for a different reason than the pp…I think [name]Greta[/name] has more spunk than the pretty and feminine [name]Freya[/name]. More on par with [name]Eliza[/name], as opposed to [name]Elise[/name], for example.

[name]Freya[/name] sounds more feminine, but [name]Greta[/name] is so fun!

I prefer [name]Freya[/name].

[name]Freya[/name] sounds much prettier to me.

I like both, but I have a slight preference towards [name]Greta[/name].

I think [name]Freya[/name] is more feminine, fragile, floaty. I prefer [name]Greta[/name]. It’s feminine in a different way - more strength and glamour.

Same here…

I think [name]Freya[/name] sounds a bit more feminine and Great just sounds too harsh for me like a very hard sound and [name]Freya[/name] just has letters that seem to have a nicer flow and I also prefer the spelling [name]Freja[/name] over [name]Freya[/name]

Thanks all who have responded!! DH really loves [name]Freya[/name] and I prefer [name]Greta[/name], so this was a great way to get some different opinions. It helped me grow in appreciation for the name [name]Freya[/name] as well. @emsky, we have [name]Eliza[/name] high on our list also! @sweetcaroline, I also like the [name]Freja[/name] spelling better now that you mention it.

Thanks again!

Honestly, I love them both! I have a [name]Greta[/name] (age 5), and [name]Freya[/name] was one of my favorite girl names for my third. My husband didn’t like it at all, though. I feel that [name]Greta[/name] is strong and no frills, but still very feminine with a bit of spunk. [name]Freya[/name] is sweet, beautiful and exotic. I also find [name]Freya[/name] a little spunky and fresh. It is a bit more delicate than [name]Greta[/name], which many people find “old” and harsh.

Agree with the above!

[name]Freya[/name]. It has a nice sound and [name]Freya[/name] was norse goddess of magic, love and fertility.

I prefer [name]Freja[/name] since it’s a bit softer sounding than [name]Greta[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are great though!
