Hubby and I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] for a girl. Problem is, our other children’s names are [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]. It’s like a mash up of them!
[name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] and [name_f]Gretel[/name_f]. Too close?
On the contrary I think it’s too different. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] are so mainstream and popular and [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] is so [name_m]Hansel[/name_m] and gretel, and a little sound of music. What about [name_f]Greta[/name_f]?
I think the 3rd child’s name can be a little more daring. For me- [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] and [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] don’t end in the same sound. I don’t think it’s too close.
For me, the sounds would be too close and the styles a little too different, but if you really love the name, a perfectly coordinated sibset does not need to be the top priority. Might you like [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]? That would make all three given names a little more compatible and keep your options open.
I’d go [name_f]Greta[/name_f] or [name_f]Freya[/name_f] because to me [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] sounds like a mix between [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m].
I don’t think [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] fits with [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] at all, personally. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] are classic, yet still feel modern/timeless, and very fun names. [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] is very old and clunky, in my opinion. Apart from style, I do feel like they are too similar as well. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] being on a playground and calling out all of their names or other scenarios… seems like they would be easy to get tongue-tied/mixed up.
