Greyson Duval - too pretentious?

I’m due in [name]October[/name] and my husband and I are relatively settled on [name]Greyson[/name] for the first name. We went to Key [name]West[/name] last year and really liked so I’m thinking of Duval for the middle name - as in Duval [name]Street[/name]. Does [name]Greyson[/name] Duval sound too pretentious? Other ideas or thoughts? Thanks!!!

Nah, not too pretentious. I assume your main concern is with Duval. I mean, it’s in the middle : D. But it’s also fine.

I find [name]Grayson[/name] [name]West[/name] a little handsomer though, if that gets you to Key [name]West[/name] enough. Or even [name]Greyson[/name] Key?

Good luck!

I mean it has a ‘fancier’ sound but I don’t think it’s overly pretentious.

Maybe just go with [name]Gray[/name] if you want a more rugged/down to earth sound?

[name]Gray[/name] Duval is really nice and I think it sounds stronger & will age better than [name]Grayson[/name].

I think only you can answer this question. Pretentiousness is incredibly subjective depending on the viewer and the namer. Personally, when I hear “[name]Greyson[/name] Duval” I don’t think it’s pretentious per se, but I do picture a rich country club kid. I would be more supportive of Duval if it were a family name (which is what I would assume on just hearing it). I’m not a fan of naming children after places. But like pp said – it’s the middle, so people will almost never hear it.

It doesn’t seem pretentious to me at all. I love the association to the Key [name]West[/name], actually, and [name]Greyson[/name] Duval sounds so smart and handsome. I love the suggestion of [name]Greyson[/name] [name]West[/name], too–that’s so handsome, imo!

I’m apparently in the minority…I do think it sounds kind of hoity-toity. I also [name]LOVE[/name] The suggestion of [name]Greyson[/name] [name]West[/name] over [name]Greyson[/name] Duval.

I do not see [name]Greyson[/name] Duval as pretentious. I love the suggestion of [name]Greyson[/name] [name]West[/name]! So handsome!

I do think it sounds a bit pretentious, honestly.

I love Duval but as a Floridian I can’t use it (lots of things named Duval here). Make sure it’s pronounced correctly, not “doo-vul” or “duh-[name]VAL[/name]”

[name]Greyson[/name] Duval sounds a lot better and more unexpected than [name]Greyson[/name] [name]West[/name].
Other Key [name]West[/name] names:
[name]Monroe[/name]
[name]Taylor[/name]
Flagler
[name]Ernest[/name]
[name]Truman[/name]

More out there:
[name]Hemingway[/name]
Tortuga
Trumbo
[name]Cayo[/name]
[name]Reef[/name]
Audubon
Dredger
Sigsbee

Are you sure that you want to name him [name]Greyson[/name]? The reason that I ask is that Gracen is a well known girl’s name and for that reason I would not use [name]Greyson[/name], however, [name]Grey[/name] Duval sounds great to me.

rollo

[name]Greyson[/name] doesn’t seem pretentious to me - if anything, it seems extremely trendy

Middle names are rarely ever used so I don’t think Duval is overly pretentious.

I like one person’s suggestion of [name]Gray[/name] Duval.

[name]Grayson[/name]/Greysen is highly trendy. It’s so close to the whole slew of children being named [name]Jayden[/name], [name]Braden[/name], [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Logan[/name], [name]Hayden[/name], [name]Mason[/name], Grayden, [name]Caden[/name], [name]Zaden[/name]. If you love it, go with it, but be aware his name will sound similar to tons of other little kids.

when i hear Greayson Duval i think of a very sophisticated french man (he’s also very handsome in my head  i don’t think it’s pretentious. plus it has special meaning to you guys which i think is really important
