Griffin or Mordecai?

Trying to think of boy names. [name_f]Sister[/name_f] is [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]. Any thoughts?

I much prefer [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], although both suit [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] - I’ve always found [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] a bit over the top  But [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] sounds lovely!

No contest. [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] all the way.

Definitely [name_m]Griffin[/name_m].

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]!

[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] for sure!

I personally feel neutral about [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] but much prefer it over [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m].

I prefer [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m]. It’s a name I’m familiar with, has a great meaning (“warrior”), a solid history, and good nickname options. I’ve sort of wished I could like [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], mainly because it has [name_u]Finn[/name_u] as an inbuilt nickname, but it’s always made me think of gargoyles and I just can’t seem to think of it as a name, like naming someone Giant - it feels like it ought to be used in the context of “arrggggh it’s a griffin RUN!”. And [evidently unlike many people here!] I can see it working as a name.

Another vote for [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m]! [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] make a stunning sibset. I love the nickname [name_u]Cai[/name_u]. It’s underused, but has a familiar, solid feel to it. It’s an all around good name!

[name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] sounds much, MUCH better with [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]. [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] doesn’t have the same gravitas.

[name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] is not my style, I definitely prefer [name_m]Griffin[/name_m].

[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] without a doubt. [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] just feels like a completeley different style to [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]. All they have in common is that they are both long and fairly unusual. [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] however feels right to me. And I think it’s a much better name.

I would choose [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] to go with sister [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]. They’re better matched in terms of popularity and have the same sort of weighty, Gothic feel.

That’s a tough one, I like both names. I think I’ll vote for [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] because it fits [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]'s style better.

[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]. I adore [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], by the way.

[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]! [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] sounds a bit too dark.

I agree with pp that [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] sounds dark. Reminds me of [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] and I will forever associate [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] with Children of the Corn. -shudder- I like [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] together. Both names have mythical ties, which is a nice “theme” to tie the sibset together. I do feel [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] is a tad less substantial than [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], but I still much prefer it over [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m].

I love them both and I like the nicknames [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]Cai[/name_u]

I’m partial to [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], though both could work.

[name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] is a bit too much for me, I vote [name_m]Griffin[/name_m].
