What girls’ names make you think of daydreams, gossamer, and hours spent painting in summer fields, but with an edge of groundedness?
The only example I can think of is [name]Lyra[/name].

[name]TIA[/name]
I can agree with [name]Lyra[/name].
Also for me:
[name]Ember[/name]
[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Luna[/name]
[name]Thea[/name]
[name]Cleo[/name]/[name]Clio[/name]
[name]Freya[/name]
[name]Echo[/name] (this one isn’t too grounded unless you count grounded in mythology )
Tatiana
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Isis[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name]
[name]Viola[/name]
[name]Arwen[/name]
[name]Willow[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Juno[/name]
[name]Callista[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name]
[name]Gwendolyn[/name]
[name]Isolde[/name]
[name]Jade[/name]
[name]Melody[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Aisling[/name]/[name]Ashling[/name]
Of course one persons [name]Whimsy[/name] might not work for someone else. These are the ones I think of as whimsical but still able to work [name]IRL[/name].
On a different note, I recently met a woman named [name]Whimsy[/name]…and saw a tombstone for someone named [name]Fairy[/name]!
[name]Celeste[/name] and [name]Luna[/name] come to mind.
[name]Lyra[/name] is a wonderful example of grounded whimsy.
[name]Willow[/name]
[name]Beth[/name]
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Lily[/name]
[name]Elle[/name]
[name]Elaina[/name]
Eloise
Elora
Mia
Primrose
Magnolia
Aurora
Violet
Charlotte
Clara
Amelie
I agree with [name]Lyra[/name], too! My first idea was [name]Eliora[/name]–I’m crushing on her a lot atm. She feels whimsical, but perfect for a resume, I think it’s great.
[name]One[/name] that I think of is [name]Alba[/name].
[name]Lucy[/name] came straight to mind.
[name]Willow[/name]
Verily
[name]Everly[/name]
[name]Moriah[/name]
[name]Petra[/name]
[name]Calliope[/name]
[name]Ayelet[/name]
[name]Cleo[/name]
[name]Geneva[/name]
[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Fay[/name]
I think there are a good number of them.
[name]Thea[/name], [name]Aurora[/name], [name]Viola[/name], [name]Lavinia[/name], [name]Celia[/name], [name]Celeste[/name], [name]Allegra[/name], [name]Isolde[/name], [name]Lyra[/name], [name]Phoebe[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Elodie[/name], [name]Lilith[/name], [name]Flora[/name], [name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Tatiana[/name]. It’s a centuries-old, very serious name, but sounds like fairy wings.
Omg, I saw the title of this thread and thought “OH LOOKIE. This person is like me.” and here you are.
My tastes are more whimsy than yours, but some that I think would fit:
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Regina[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Angelica[/name]
[name]Georgiana[/name]
[name]Morgana[/name]
[name]Caterina[/name]
[name]Catriona[/name]
[name]Briar[/name]
[name]Briony[/name]
[name]Leighton[/name] (esp. in the middle)
[name]Alexandria[/name]/[name]Alexandrie[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name]
Oh yes, brilliant suggestion.
[name]Rosamund[/name]. Half fairy princess and medieval romance, half serious-minded clunk. It’s easy for me to equally picture a [name]Rosamund[/name] in a Pre-Raphaelite painting or on a law firm. The poetic-license Latin meanings that became attached to it in the Middle Ages of “pure rose” and later “rose of the world” add layers but the un-frilly hard consonant sounds contrast with currently fashionable elle/bella sorts of endings and keep it from floating away.

Josaphine

[name]Serena[/name]
[name]Valentina[/name]
[name]Waverly[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Arwen[/name]
[name]Thais[/name]
[name]Anais[/name]
[name]Vera[/name]
[name]Wilhelmina[/name]
[name]Ursa[/name]
[name]Calliope[/name]
[name]Lana[/name]
[name]Bernadette[/name]
[name]Berenice[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Clio[/name]

[name]Calla[/name]
[name]Zuleika[/name]
[name]Rosamond[/name]
[name]Magali[/name]
[name]Tressa[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name]
Give it a few more years and I think [name]Wendy[/name] will fit in this category again, too. [name]Diana[/name] too.
I think someone mentioned it, but “[name]Elora[/name]” is a favorite of mine in this style.
Belphoebe, Ludivine, [name]Elysia[/name]
I like your idea of [name]Lyra[/name]. It makes me think of music (lyrical). Here are my suggestions:
[name]Ellison[/name], [name]June[/name], [name]Beth[/name], Kaymie, [name]Willow[/name], and [name]Elena[/name]
I don’t know if this has been mentioned but I thought of [name]Jessamine[/name].
I also think of:
[name]Bettina[/name]
[name]Virginia[/name]
[name]Astrid[/name]- though some may not like this.
[name]Nerissa[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name]
These are subjective though. [name]Hope[/name] some of these can help!
[name]Luna[/name], [name]Arrow[/name] and [name]Timber[/name] come to mind. Def agree about [name]Lyra[/name].
