Guess the genders

Here’s some first name/middle name combos that I came up with. If you saw the combo in print without any other clues as to the gender, which would you guess each one to be?

[name]Avery[/name] [name]Francis[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Lake[/name] [name]Casey[/name]
[name]Ryan[/name] [name]Reese[/name]
[name]Shannon[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name]

[name]Avery[/name] [name]Francis[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Lake[/name] [name]Casey[/name]
[name]Ryan[/name] [name]Reese[/name]
[name]Shannon[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name]

They’re all boys for me. The only exception might be [name]Lake[/name] [name]Casey[/name], although I would think someone who names their daughter [name]Lake[/name] would be more likely to use an alternate spelling of [name]Casey[/name]: [name]Caycee[/name], [name]Kasie[/name], etc. Same with [name]Ryan[/name] [name]Reese[/name]; I’d assume male barring an alternate spelling like [name]Rian[/name], [name]Ryann[/name], etc. Coincidentally, I do have a student named [name]Sydnee[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name]; were it not for the quirky spelling, I’d have assumed she was a boy too.

[name]Avery[/name] [name]Francis[/name]- girl
[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Rose[/name]- boy
[name]Lake[/name] [name]Casey[/name]- girl
[name]Ryan[/name] [name]Reese[/name]- boy
[name]Shannon[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name]- girl

oy, i shutter to think that any of these should be girls, but wouldn’t be surprised by any of them except for [name]Benjamin[/name]. I’ve never heard of a female [name]Benjamin[/name], and it’s just too masculine to me, even with the middle name [name]Rose[/name]. [name]Avery[/name] [name]Francis[/name] is the only one I’d be confident was a girl, just doesn’t seem like something someone would name a boy these days. [name]Lake[/name] [name]Casey[/name] I really don’t like for either gender, but I’d assume girl. [name]Ryan[/name] [name]Reese[/name] I would really hope was a boy. I hate [name]Ryan[/name] as a girl’s name, and it’s just terrible when they spell it this way. [name]Shannon[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name], yikes, I’m torn on this one… I can see someone trying to have [name]Gabriel[/name] pronounced [name]Gabrielle[/name], which is why I’d think it could be a girl. [name]Shannon[/name] is much more a girls name to me than a boys name (though I think it’s a lot cooler for boys)…

[name]Avery[/name] [name]Francis[/name] - girl, but i can see it on a boy
[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - boy
[name]Lake[/name] [name]Casey[/name] - boy
[name]Ryan[/name] [name]Reese[/name] - boy
[name]Shannon[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name] - girl

All boys.

[name]Avery[/name] [name]Francis[/name] - girl, but I am sure it could definitely be a boy’s name

[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - boy because of the first name, but [name]Rose[/name] would make me think twice.

[name]Lake[/name] [name]Casey[/name] - boy

[name]Ryan[/name] [name]Reese[/name] - boy

[name]Shannon[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name] - boy I think, but I would be a bit unsure and wonder if [name]Gabriel[/name] is being pronounced [name]Gabrielle[/name].

[name]Avery[/name] [name]Francis[/name] — Girl
[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Rose[/name] — Boy
[name]Lake[/name] [name]Casey[/name] — Boy
[name]Ryan[/name] [name]Reese[/name] — Boy
[name]Shannon[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name] — Girl
