[name_f]My[/name_f] older [name_f]Sister[/name_f] just found out that she’s pregnant! So exited! I’m going to be an aunt! She is completely new to the naming world and only has a small list, so not much to work with. I have tried to suggest names to her but we have different tastes so not much is working. I am hoping that asking nameberry might give her a fresh perspective to she get get more of a list. Please suggest names according to her (small) list. Thanks guys!
Here is her list:
Girls
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]
[name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_m]Arrow[/name_m]
[name_u]Shalom[/name_u]
Beroe
Boys
[name_m]Boone[/name_m] (after director josh)
[name_m]Archie[/name_m]
[name_m]Willem[/name_m]
[name_m]Saxon[/name_m]
Congrats to your sister! That must be really exciting for you!
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Willem[/name_m]! These suggestions are all over the place in style, but she seems to like a lot of word/nature type names…
She has a lovely list, I bet that it would be easy to put together the perfect name with what she’s already got. But [name_m]Holt[/name_m] or [name_m]Colt[/name_m] or [name_m]Sayer[/name_m] maybe for a boy. [name_u]River[/name_u] maybe a nice addition or [name_m]Rune[/name_m] or [name_u]Salem[/name_u] or [name_u]Sequoia[/name_u] or Sonnett or story or scout for either. ( all nanes I like personally but my husband won’t go for ~ can’t complain not every name is for everyone~ and based on her style she might) for a girl… Aila, ( perhaps a season or month the baby is born in?) [name_f]Nell[/name_f], cam, [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_u]Lane[/name_u], [name_f]Petra[/name_f], Tava, Wilah, [name_u]Zola[/name_u]
BOYS
[name_m]Benno[/name_m]
[name_m]Boone[/name_m]
[name_m]Willem[/name_m]
[name_m]Saxon[/name_m]
[name_u]Trace[/name_u]
P.S
She also likes [name_u]Darby[/name_u] for a girl, but doesn’t like it enough to put it on her list. I really love the name [name_u]Darby[/name_u] for a girl, and would love to have a [name_m]Little[/name_m] Niece [name_u]Darby[/name_u] if it’s a girl. Any good connections to help me convince her? Also, she likes the name [name_u]Mattie[/name_u] on a girl but wouldn’t use it as a full name. Any unique names with the nickname [name_u]Mattie[/name_u]?
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] is surprisingly cute. And I think [name_m]Benno[/name_m] and [name_m]Willem[/name_m] are just so great!
Hmmm, I can’t think of any universal associations for [name_u]Darby[/name_u]. The one girl I know named [name_u]Darby[/name_u] was in my grade in school and was pretty, petite, and a very talented musician, as well as just a really sweet person, if that helps any haha. Maybe she’d consider using it as a middle name or something.
I like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Amata[/name_f], or [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] as a full name for [name_u]Mattie[/name_u].
GIRLS
[name_u]Navy[/name_u]- all I can think of is navy blue jeans, the US [name_u]Navy[/name_u] which is referenced in a play I saw a few years ago where the man was named Usnavy after what his father saw on a ship and it was a bit of a joke, and navy beans :-/ suffice to say sadly I don’t fancy this as a name for a sweet baby girl. But your sister has really fun name tastes and I know her baby will have a lovely name.
[name_u]Doone[/name_u], I prefer it [name_u]Dune[/name_u] it as a gentler look to it like the difference between [name_m]Beau[/name_m] and [name_u]Bo[/name_u]… Also no question as to the pronunciation, this feels like a middle name to me though. dune is a very popular book series and movie series and well there are sand dunes and the dunes casino in Las [name_f]Vegas[/name_f]… [name_u]Doone[/name_u] just looks like [name_m]Boone[/name_m] and it puts me off of it.
[name_u]Rowen[/name_u] I love [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] its solidly a name and just think of a sweet baby with this name and how it can grow up with her
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]- I have always pictured this on a boy. I don’t dislike it but it lacks something that I think your sister has the ability to find judging by some of the other fantastic selections!
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] - this name is so fun. There is of course [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] Addams from the Addams family but I think you could get away with it, in the least as a middle name… That is if the child were in fact born on a [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] …
[name_u]Darby[/name_u]- I prefer [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], I think [name_u]Darby[/name_u] is close to Arby and I think that’s a restaurant or something less than appealing, [name_u]Darby[/name_u] is the name of a character in a show that my oldest has on DVD we watch and there is a song his name is [name_u]Darby[/name_u] and he’s our hero and they try and rhyme things with it and [name_f]Barbie[/name_f] and carvey are some of the rhymes… [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] like me [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] from pride and prejudice is so classic and understated, similar to more common [name_f]Marcy[/name_f] and I went to school with a female [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] and it is a lovely name that ages well…
‘[name_u]Mattie[/name_u]’ as a nn is easy enough but in her style will be hard.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is the most darling
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is most common
[name_m]Matteo[/name_m] ( boys name but I think it could work)
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] ?
[name_f]My[/name_f] suggestion for a girl [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Dune[/name_u]
BOYS
[name_m]Benno[/name_m] makes me think of Beano which I saw advertised on tv back when we had cable lol its unfavorable connection, [name_m]Ben[/name_m] I like [name_u]Bennie[/name_u], [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], [name_m]Benton[/name_m], [name_m]Benjie[/name_m]
[name_m]Boone[/name_m] I like this as a middle name but not as a first I think that you’ll love it but as a first name find it doesn’t go where you want it to
[name_m]Willem[/name_m] -love it love it love it!
[name_m]Saxon[/name_m]- I could like this one, nothing really wrong with it accept I just think Anglo-[name_m]Saxon[/name_m] which isn’t terrible I guess you’d have to like [name_m]Sax[/name_m] and not mind it rhymes with sex and that a sexton is also a thing… But [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] I don’t dislike
[name_u]Trace[/name_u] - I like the old dick [name_u]Tracey[/name_u] cartoons and the movie with [name_f]Madonna[/name_f], I think of that, trace also makes me think of tracing things but its a solid name I do prefer it as a middle.
[name_f]My[/name_f] suggestion for a boy [name_m]Willem[/name_m] [name_m]Boone[/name_m]
I will try and think of a few more suggestions too
