Totally usable, even if not a super common choice.
It would have been on my shortlist for a person of I hadn’t already used it for my cat 11 years ago (wasn’t really thinking about baby names at the time.)
Artie, [name_m]Art[/name_m], [name_f]Arta[/name_f], and [name_f]Missy[/name_f] are all very intuitive nicknames.
Ones that are more of a stretch but can work:

It’s not my personal style, but I think it’s perfectly usable. If girls can be named [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], etc, why not [name_u]Artemis[/name_u]? [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and [name_u]Ari[/name_u] were the first two nicknames to come to mind. [name_f]Missy[/name_f] would also be usable as a nickname.
