Guinevere/Ginevra/Gwendolen conundrum!

I have three names on my list that are very similar;

[name]Guinevere[/name]; I like the history, meaning and sound, and real women have worn this name. But is the adulterer image going to overshadow the person wearing the name?

[name]Ginevra[/name]; I like this form of [name]Guinevere[/name], and the nickname [name]Ginny[/name]. Yes, it is a HP name, but somehow I think it is easier to wear than [name]Guinevere[/name]. I think that even though it ends in -a, there are enough consonants in it to make it distinctive.

[name]Gwendolen[/name]; I like the literary references, and how this name sounds like a fairy tale heroine could wear it! The -dolen part is a bit ponderous…

I also like [name]Imogen[/name], with the nickname [name]Ginny[/name].

I need some way to narrow it down! Help, please!

[name]Guinevere[/name]: [name]Love[/name] this one! Its on my short list with the nn [name]Gwyn[/name]. I think its very pretty and sophisticated and I also love the history behind it. The adulterer image personally doesn’t bother me at all. [name]Ophelia[/name] is my favourite name and that probably has a worse image to it than [name]Guinevere[/name] does.

[name]Ginevra[/name]: I don’t really like this. I think its the '[name]Gin[/name]" sound I’m not too fond off and I don’t think its as classy as [name]Guinevere[/name].

[name]Gwendolen[/name]: I love this one too. Its very elegant and sweet sounding and I love the nn [name]Gwen[/name].

I like [name]Imogen[/name] but not the nn [name]Ginny[/name].

[name]Hope[/name] this helps

Thanks [name]Kate[/name]! I like how the names in your signature both start with O. Such a lovely letter!

I’m glad you find [name]Guinevere[/name] sophisticated, I’m going for an uncommon, elegant/sophisticated and feminine name!

I love all three of those names they are soo gorgeous!
My fave tho is [name]Gwendolen[/name], and i love [name]Gwen[/name] as a nn.
[name]Imogen[/name] is another beautiful name, but harder for a nn.
[name]Gwendolen[/name] and [name]Gwen[/name] are really perfect names.
All the best xo

[name]Ginevra[/name]/[name]Ginny[/name] is my [name]FAVORITE[/name]! [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] reference is the icing on the cake!

[name]Guinevere[/name] is good if you use [name]Vera[/name] but I think its a bit long and dramatic. Especially if she say, goes into the business world- it’s a bit awkward.

[name]Gwendolen[/name] is also really nice [name]Gwen[/name] and [name]Leni[/name] are great nicknames but it’s not so chunky that you can’t just use the whole name.

[name]Imogen[/name] is nice but if you really like [name]Ginny[/name] just name her [name]Ginny[/name] or [name]Ginevra[/name].

[name]Imogen[/name] is a fav of mine nn [name]Iggie[/name]

I think that [name]Ginevra[/name] and [name]Gwendolen[/name] are both more wearable than [name]Guinevere[/name]. [name]Ginevra[/name] DOES make me think of HP and probably always will, because that was the first time I heard [name]Ginevra[/name].

I LOOOOVE the name [name]Imogen[/name]. But, all of these are nice choices.

I think all are usable in full, they are only three syllables each! I think I’m going to cross of [name]Gwendolen[/name], as it is beautiful but I don’t really feel like one. [name]Guinevere[/name] is weighty but beautiful…and people will think of the [name]Queen[/name] of Camelot.

So…

[name]Do[/name] I go with [name]Guinevere[/name], and have the Arthurian association?

Or [name]Ginevra[/name], and have the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] association?

Or [name]Imogen[/name]…which is starting to pale in comparison, lovely as it is!

(This is for me, and I was born in 1992, so people won’t think i was named after [name]Ginny[/name]…)

My favorite is certainly [name]Gwendolen[/name] but if that’s out…I’m not big on [name]Ginevra[/name] so if it comes down to [name]Imogen[/name] vs. [name]Guinevere[/name], I’d much rather meet a [name]Guinevere[/name].

The other names on my list are [name]Romola[/name]/[name]Romilly[/name], [name]Melusine[/name] and [name]Celestine[/name], if any of you would like to suggest others! I live in the US so [name]Imogen[/name] is very unusual…it does get mispronounced a bit!

I personally don’t care for [name]Guinevere[/name] or [name]Ginevra[/name]. I love [name]Gwendolen[/name]! I prefer the [name]Gwendolyn[/name] or [name]Gwendoline[/name] spellings though.

[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Ginevra[/name]/[name]Gen[/name]évrier, [name]Guinevere[/name] is nms but I think its a nice name, not a fan of [name]Gwendolyn[/name] at all though
