Guinevere?

I’m crushing on the name [name]Guinevere[/name], and I’m trying to decide if it’s usable in the real world. I’ve taken quite a few names off my girl’s list, and it’s kind of thin right now, so I’d love to be able to add a few names to it. That brings us to [name]Guinevere[/name]. I love the name, I love nn [name]Vera[/name]. But… I can’t quite get around the whole “[name]Guinevere[/name] cheated on [name]Arthur[/name] with [name]Lancelot[/name]” thing. Thoughts?

Oooooh, I’d never thought of [name]Vera[/name] as a nn for [name]Guinevere[/name]. I think both are gorgeous names. [name]Guinevere[/name] benefits from some familiarity with [name]Gwen[/name], [name]Gwendolyn[/name], etc. which I think brings her into the wearable category. You’re right, she is a bit difficult to extract from her legendary past, but I didn’t just automatically jump to that so I guess that’s hopeful, right?

I like [name]Guinevere[/name] a lot. There was one weekend while I was still a college sophomore (I think… I could have still been a freshman) where I was obsessed with [name]Guinevere[/name], haha. The name was used in an audio/radio drama I grew up listening to (nn [name]Jenny[/name]), so it doesn’t seem that unusable/tied-to-the-Arthurian-legend to me, so I think it’s just gorgeous. Then again, there’s this musician (I’m not really sure what to classify her as, lol… there’s this plug for her at the Taco [name]Bell[/name] where I work, and it sounds like she’s an up-and-coming musician, and she just goes by [name]Guinevere[/name]) with the name, so that might be a concern, as well? Still, I think it’s a stunning name and completely usable!

As far as [name]Gwen[/name]- sounding names go, I prefer [name]Gwendolyn[/name] and [name]Gwenore[/name], personally, but I do love the captivating, strong, stunning [name]Guinevere[/name]! [name]Vera[/name] is a lovely nn for it, too.

I love it and I think it’s wearable. The nickname [name]Vera[/name] is great. It seems like a lot of the literary names with less-than-ideal connotations are coming back into style. Names like [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Cordelia[/name], and [name]Ophelia[/name] come to mind. I’m glad to see this since they are all very pretty names.
