Guinevere

Hello again!

I’ve posted several times now trying on different combos for my last baby due in [name_u]June[/name_u]. I love, love, love my other children’s names. I’m especially proud of my daughter’s, [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], which is just perfect to me. But so far everything I’ve come up with for this baby feels off or doesn’t flow well to me after the initial honeymoon phase. So I’m back and hoping this is the one!

Mila [name_f]Elizaveta[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is what I’m toying with now. It’s not overly Slavic (like [name_f]Anya[/name_f] was with that combo). It’s not all ending in -a which makes the flow feel off to me. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband doesn’t hate it (the problem with [name_f]Morgana[/name_f]). It doesn’t repeat sounds (like [name_f]Elena[/name_f]/Elaina and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]). And it doesn’t feel filler to me (like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f]). [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is lovely in sound and on paper. It has that cool literary, mythological vibe that [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] do.

So what do you think? Aside from being a bit long, does it flow? Is the history okay given [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]’s story?

If you’ve made it this far, thanks so much for your time (again)! I’m just feeling the pressure: last baby, you know? I want it to feel as perfect as her sister’s name does.

I think the combo flows beautifully! It seems like you and your husband really love it, and it matches [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]’s name perfectly.

I think it’s beautiful! Yes it is a tad long, but honestly it’s such a stunning combo that you barely even notice that

It is a bit long but has good flow and it sounds like the perfect fit! It’s got all of the good qualities you’re looking for and fits well with your sibset

From the Arthurian legend. Maybe it’s not as well known as I think? I don’t know the story overly well myself.

mile elizabeth guinevere is lovely! guinevere’s story is a bit heavy, but I still think it works perfectly as a name.

Mila [name_f]Elizaveta[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is fetching. It sounds like you’re looking for something that brings the right balance to the name.

If I may make some comparisons to your daughter’s name. [name_f]Mila[/name_f] is bright and sparky like [name_f]Kate[/name_f], and [name_f]Elizaveta[/name_f] is an enchanting international choice like [name_f]Freya[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] hits a different note to [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. It has an ethereal quality, not quite the classical tones or romantic imagery of [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. I think something like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], for example, is closer in style. The difference in length is visually and audibly noticeable; 1, 2, 3 syllables compared to 2, 5, 3. The other thing I notice about your daughter’s name is the subtle repeating sounds that connect her three names together, like the long ‘a’ sound in [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f], and the ‘t’ in [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. I do like how [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] picks up the ‘v’ in [name_f]Elizaveta[/name_f] but it doesn’t feel as cohesive.

In regards to the Arthurian legend, my take is that your baby would be named for your love of the name, not for the character. I don’t foresee the legend overshadowing that.

I find [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Elizaveta[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] overall a heavy combination but an especially elegant and beautiful one. The Welsh and the Slavic names seem slightly in contrast to one another, though you could say that makes it all the more memorable. If you are interested in hearing suggestions at all, I have some up my sleeve.

@kachenka Thank you so much for such a detailed response. I agree with everything you said, it is a bit of a heavy combination.

[name_f]My[/name_f] background is Slavic and my husband’s is Welsh, and the baby’s last name is Welsh as well, so I’m not too worried about the two contrasting backgrounds–to me it’s a nice touch, even though I wouldn’t have gone out of my way to honor both of our heritages that way. It’s just a cool bonus.

I have suggested [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] to him! But he really didn’t like it and I do prefer [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] anyway. It’s one of the few that he said “that’s a really pretty name” when I mentioned the combo (so many of the other options he’s been noncommittal or outright disliked, so this seemed like progress!)

Thank you again for this!

@LiliMorgana Now that you mention your backgrounds, I can say that it truly adds to the appeal. It sounds like this combination is feeling a little more solid than your prior loves as well. Fingers crossed for you!

I think it flows nicely, and is a very beautiful name  Agree that [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] has the literary and mythological vibe [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] have. A “yes!” from me!
