Gunhilda

I recently heard the name “[name_f]Gunhilda[/name_f].” It’s not for me because “gun,” but curious what other people think of it.

A bit harsh for me

It’s not really my style.

I generally quite like clunky [name_f]Hilda[/name_f] names, although I prefer them spelt -hilde. However, there are others I like quite a bit more (such as [name_f]Swanhilde[/name_f], [name_f]Brunhilde[/name_f], and [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f]). I think the gun prefix is what turns me off from it.

I actually dig [name_f]Hilda[/name_f] names, too - [name_f]Hildegard[/name_f] is my fave but I like [name_f]Brunhilde[/name_f] a lot, too. [name_f]Gunhilda[/name_f] is way too much for me though.

I don’t like the name [name_f]Hilda[/name_f]… and when you add gun to it it’s just awful.

The “gun” part immediately jumps out to me, and I don’t care for the sound either. If it’s an honour name or something, I think it would be fine as a middle name but I wouldn’t recommend it as a first.

I don’t care for it. Sorry.

When it’s pronounced correctly, I’m fine with it. In an [name_f]English[/name_f] speaking country, I think it would be difficult to pull off.

The prefix is a big turn off for me. I much prefer [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f].

Definitely not my style and can’t see it being very popular as you said with the “gun” reference.

For some reason, it reminds me of Mrs. Trunchbull from [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]! :joy: I think that it is very cool, though.

I love the meaning!!! I’m adding it to my “dark/divine feminine energy” names
