Gwendolice? (Or Gwyndolice, Gwendolyce?)

[name_f]My[/name_f] little sister, who is six, accidentally misheard the name [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] for Gwendolice the other day. What do you think of it?

I think sister’s version is cute! Unfortunately it ends with “lice”, which is not the best of connotations.

Change the spelling to Gwendolyss and it looks a lot better. It’s cute.

[name_u]True[/name_u], but it’s not like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] has ever been hurt by that.

Is it like a mix between [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f]? I like the smoosh of [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] more, but [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]-dah-liss is cute, too. I would probably stick with the original, to avoid confusion, but I do like them all.

Not a fan. The -lice/-lyce completely takes away from the name’s Welsh roots.
