I don’t have a strong opinion either way on [name_u]Mat/name_uilda - I like either spelling. I suppose that [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] could lead to mispronunciations, so maybe that’s what makes that decision for you.
I do really lean toward the [name_f]Esther[/name_f] spelling, though - [name_f]Ester[/name_f] looks incomplete to me.
I prefer [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f].
I like both [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f], but because [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is more familiar to me I lean towards it instinctively. [name_f]Esther[/name_f] is a funny thing to me. You can’t hear the ‘h’ in the name at all, but it feels/looks wrong without it to me. I think that might have to do with familiarity also.
I voted for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f].
I also vote for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
I voted for [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f], however with [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f], my preferred spelling depends on the sibling/middle name(s).
With more classic names, I prefer [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f], with quirkier and/or very English names, [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] would be my choice.
So [name_f]Clara[/name_f] & [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] & [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] & [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] & [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] & [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] & [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], etc…
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] & [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] ages the name a lot and [name_f]Ester[/name_f] looks uncomfortable, I’m just so used to [name_f]Esther[/name_f] exclusively.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
Same! For some reason [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] seems too vintage to me, and [name_f]Ester[/name_f] too modern. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] are perfect.
I like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] roughly about the same. I tend to default to [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], just because it’s the more popular spelling right now, but I think [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] is slightly prettier and more romantic looking.
As for [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and [name_f]Ester[/name_f], I’m rather torn. On one hand, I do prefer the look of [name_f]Ester[/name_f], which seems more modern and youthful. On the other hand, I barely recognize [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and [name_f]Ester[/name_f] as the same name, even though I know they are. I think it’s because [name_f]Ester[/name_f] looks so much like [name_f]Aster[/name_f], which is a different but related (they all mean “star”) name.
I prefer [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] to [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f]. I don’t like the latter spelling because of the word “[name_m]Math[/name_m]” in it and math was my worse subject in school, but I digress… Anyhow, I like [name_f]Esther[/name_f] better than [name_f]Ester[/name_f]. [name_f]Ester[/name_f] looks incomplete to me.
