:???: I have had a girls name picked out since I was 10 years old. Now I read it is on the rise. Should I ditch this name and go with a pretty biblical name? Pick something totally different? I don’t want people to think I just picked a trendy name if this name really does pick up in popularity??? I am sure it is just hormones. I know, it’s is stupid to worry about this. I am not due until [name_f]April[/name_f]. I have a ton of time to think of a name. I mean heck, we don’t even want to know what we are having until our bundle of joy shows up. I just had to write this. Thanks! ![]()
I say if you love it, go for it! Most biblical names are pretty popular too though, so if you wanted something unique, I would just find a name that makes your heart flutter. Good luck!
The most important thing in choosing a name for your child is that it’s a name that you absolutely love and adore. It doesn’t matter if you picked out the name 10 years ago and is now #1. If to you this name is the best name in the world (and assuming it’s not something Latrine or Sh*thouse - sorry I just watched “Men in Tights”) what other people might think in negligible.
If you love it and always have you should use it, no matter the popularity. Who cares what people think? You’ll look back later and be disappointed you didn’t follow your heart.
I agree with this, and [name_u]Lex[/name_u]; I just watched Men in Tights yesterday!!! ![]()
If you love it, you should use it. I don’t understand why anyone would abandon their favorite name because it’s “too popular”. It’s popular because people think it’s an attractive name. If you want something no one else likes, pick something ugly.
If one name has stuck by your side since the age of 10, then I think it’s the name for you. Usually, people’s naming styles change as they mature as old ones fall aside and new ones take their place. That hasn’t happened to you so I’m thinking the name is that “special one” and it’s a keeper! Nothing that you should worry about. The important thing is that YOU [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the name you choose.
Go for it.
What is the name?
I think it’s really silly to drop a name that you clearly love just because it’s getting popular. If you named her something unique that suddenly got really trendy, would you go out and change it?
Sometimes there is no telling with trends. You could name her [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and something could happen to make that name drop out of the Top 10 overnight. Or you could name her [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] and in 3 weeks [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] could pick that for her daughter and by next year the name is in the Top 100.
And we’ve said it before, most non-berries aren’t aware of (nor do they care about) the popularity lists. So while you’re here worrying about other people thinking you’re not creative and just picked a name out of the popularity bin…chances are they’re not even going to be aware that you picked number 3 on the chart.
And honestly even being a berry doesn’t mean you’re going to be a judgmental witch about someones name choice. My cousin named her little boy [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] and that’s number 12 on the list. My first thought wasn’t “oh how boring is she” it was “aw look at his little ears how cute.”
If you love the name, use it. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t let the popularity ruin your favorite name.
Use it if you love it. [name_m]Even[/name_m] a popular name isn’t that popular if you think about the number of uses per birth.
Use the name you love!
Go for it!!
If you really love a name you shouldn’t allow popularity to ruin that name. If your set on it go for it and don’t allow statistics and charts too ruin the name for you. My brother is [name_m]William[/name_m] which is around #10 in the popularity charts and has been around that number for a long time but at his school he is the only [name_m]William[/name_m]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because the name is supposedly popular doesn’t necessarily mean she is going to be [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] M or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] A for example. So don’t worry if your love for a name is strong just GO FOR IT as normally it’s a good sign!!!
: )
Use it. If you’ve loved the name since forever, not using it will probably bring you more regret than any amount of popularity could.
