Pregnant with #2 and stumped on girl’s names. [name]Hadley[/name] has been our choice since my son was born, but I fear it is a contender to become really popular. With the “ley” ending, I feel like people will change the spelling to “leigh” and “lee” and next thing you know it is your next [name]Kaitlin[/name] (not that I don’t love [name]Kaitlin[/name]…it is actually my name!). I’m having trouble thinking of any new names. I like unique without being too trendy or weird. Surnames, irish/english, classic or place names seem to suit yet haven’t found one that sticks. If it could work with [name]Julia[/name] in the middle (which is tough to do) that that would be a huge bonus so we could honor my grandmother. Any thoughts?
I don’t like [name]Hadley[/name] on a girl at all, and I’ve noticed that I see it mentioned a fair bit.
[name]Hadley[/name]'s jumped up 38 places last year, so it’s likely to jump up higher with this year. It’s currently number 178 in the USA SSA listings.
I’d prefer by a mile [name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Julia[/name] nn [name]Hadley[/name].
I don’t think [name]Hadley[/name] is that popular, despite being in spot 178. I’ve never met anyone named [name]Hadley[/name]. It’s not my personal favorite for a girl, but if you really love it, you should use it. [name]Hadley[/name] [name]Julia[/name] is a terrific combo.
The sound/spelling is cute and fun without being too cutesy, and I like the meaning and how it’s had established use as a girls’ name. I far prefer [name]Hadley[/name] to [name]Hayley[/name] and [name]Hayden[/name]. I do think it’s poised to replace [name]Hayley[/name], [name]Hayden[/name] and variations as the next mega-popular H name, though.
What about [name]Heather[/name] (similar meaning, on a sharp decline and still lovely [name]IMO[/name]) or Brooksley (similar feel, but very unusual)?
[name]Hadley[/name] doesn’t appeal to me personally. It’s not a common name in the UK but I’m going to assume it’s a surname originally?
I think it could easily work as a girls name though,as the pp(who dissed my name lol!) said it seems a natural heir of [name]Hayley[/name],[name]Heather[/name] etc
I think [name]Hadley[/name] [name]Julia[/name] is great. [name]Hadley[/name] is one of the few surnames/unisex names I like on a girl. What about [name]Tess[/name] [name]Julia[/name]? Or could you like a name like [name]Juliana[/name] for a fn to honor your gma?
A coworker of mine just gave birth to a [name]Hadley[/name] earlier this year. I’ve also been hearing rumblings of [name]Hadley[/name] other places and I do expect it to keep climbing in the next few years. It IS a very cute name; however, the rising popularity would be a deal breaker for me. Any similar names you like that aren’t climbing as fast? What about [name]Henley[/name]?
Yes, I think it will get pretty popular. I had never heard it until my bff named her daughter [name]Hadley[/name] last year. Now I’ve heard of 6 or 7 [name]Hadley[/name]'s. It’s a lovely name though.

I think part of the reason for the rise in popularity is due to pop culture–[name]Hadley[/name] is/was a female character’s name on the popular HBO series ‘[name]True[/name] Blood’.
Honestly, I think it’s very close to [name]Hayden[/name], [name]Hayley[/name], etc. and has quite the ‘trendy and on-the-rise’ feel to me.
The idea of [name]Adelaide[/name] with the nn [name]Hadley[/name] appeals to me a lot more than just [name]Hadley[/name] by itself, however.
I dislike [name]Hadley[/name]. Here are some ideas you may like

I like [name]Hadley[/name] [name]Julia[/name], I think that’s a beautiful name.
I think it probably depends on where you live (website to look up names for your state: Popular Names by State). I’ve never met a [name]Hadley[/name], I don’t think it’s a popular name in my state and I don’t expect that it will be either, but who knows. Like someone else pointed out in another thread, did anyone really expect [name]Harper[/name] to be as popular now as it was a few years ago?
Either way, I think it’s a cute name (without being too cutesy), so if you love it, then you should use it.
