Hadley vs Elle?

We’re narrowed down to these two from our previous two which didn’t include [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] at all but we’re loving the sound of it. Curious to know what others think when they hear of either name. [name_f]Elle[/name_f], as others have said, strikes us as more classic. [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] to me sounds more modern yet also classic and neither of us have met any Hadley’s (or Elle’s, actually).

I liked [name_f]Elle[/name_f] more! [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] is a pretty name but im liking [name_f]Elle[/name_f] more, may I suggest a variant of [name_f]Elle[/name_f] like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Luella[/name_f] if you want the longer name like [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], but definetly [name_f]Elle[/name_f]!

[name_f]Elle[/name_f] is my favourite

It’s classic, elegant, international. I’ve really been loving the simplicity of this name recently. But obviously [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] names have been crazy popular for a while - [name_f]Elle[/name_f] on its own feels fresher though. Current associations - [name_f]Elle[/name_f] magazine, [name_f]Elle[/name_f] woods (legally blonde) and Elle/Eleven from stranger things.

[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] feels modern and yet kind of 90s esque and very American…it gives me [name_f]Bayla[/name_f], [name_u]Marley[/name_u], [name_f]Hayley[/name_f], [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] kind of vibes. One of my friends in [name_u]America[/name_u] has actually chosen this for her baby.

[name_f]Elle[/name_f] is my favorite, simple and classy. I’ve never met an [name_f]Elle[/name_f] but I’ve met several girls named [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. If you don’t want your [name_f]Elle[/name_f] to be lumped in with all the other [name_f]El[/name_f] names, I would go with [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] is spunky and fun and I do know one teenage girl named [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] and her name fits her well.

[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] has grown on me a lot this year as my twins had a cute classmate named [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. I think I actually prefer it to [name_f]Elle[/name_f], which feels too brief and flighty to me.

[name_f]Elle[/name_f].

Honestly, -ley names are kinda overused IMO

This is a good summary of both. I would add that [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] was Hemingway’s first wife which lends a literary and antique feel to it rather than just modern trendy.

I teach and have had several Hadley’s boys and girls. I really prefer [name_f]Elle[/name_f]. It’s just so simple and classic which is my style. I could see [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] as a middle name with a more feminine first.

I like [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] a lot. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] feels incomplete to me.

I prefer [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] seems incomplete. I’d use [name_f]Ella[/name_f] over [name_f]Elle[/name_f]. I like the surname feel of [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], but that it is definitely most common as a girls’ name.

[name_f]Elle[/name_f] is classic and feminine. I prefer Hadley/ [name_f]Hadleigh[/name_f] on a boy personally, but it works for a girl too in the same way the name [name_u]Robin[/name_u] works for both. I feel like [name_f]Elle[/name_f] is elegant, timeless and lady-like while [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] is quirky, non-conforming, trendy. these names feel very different. If [name_f]Elle[/name_f] is a ballerina , then [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] is rocking-out playing guitar. This said I loved [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] as a boys name untl I watched [name_f]Pretty[/name_f] [name_m]Little[/name_m] Liars, and now I can picture a perfectly dainty lady-like girl as a “Spencer”. I think you should go with your heart or maybe use both together. Elle-Hadley and [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_f]Elle[/name_f] are both nice.
