Hair question for moms with mixed babies!

My son is half [name_f]Indian[/name_f] half Scandinavian. His hair is fine like Scandinavian hair but grows like crazy! like his indian fathers hair. It gets tangled so easily! What can i do to minimise the tangles? He loves getting his hair brushed so thankfully thats not a problem. Id also like advice from those of you with experience with African American mixed babies hair as im expecting baby no 2. And anticipate hair “issues” there too, do i just treat it like “normal” hair or does African hair require other types of care? I dont have a ton of experience with hair as iv had a pixi cut for the past 10 years and my bf shaves his off so he doesn’t have to deal with it, and id like to get a good routine going early! Thanks for any help in advance :smile:

I’m white, but my hair is very curly. I would highly recommend Shea Moisture products. I’ve only ever found them in the black hair care section. I know black and mixed race people who use Shea Moisture, and it seems to work great across the thick curly hair spectrum. You’ll just have to play around with the formulas and see which works best on your child’s hair. Also, washing curly hair every day will dry it out. I wash my hair once a week, but I know some people will wash it less often than that. I’ve heard good things about Mixed Chick products but haven’t tried them myself. Whatever shampoo you use should definitely be sulfate-free. Sulfates strip your hair of its natural oils, which isn’t good for curly hair at all.

You will need a brush with natural bristles to manage this problem. It’s better to choose one with soft bristles - it’s better for children. Here is the article the review of the products that can come in handy:

The only thing you should remember when choosing is that the brush should fit to your kid’s hair type. Take care.
