I prefer [name]Reuben[/name]. I just think it sounds handsome and nice as apposed to the short and plain [name]Hal[/name]. Nothing wrong with short and plain, just not my style.

I like [name]Hal[/name] and I want to like it for a full name but it seems so short for my head to accept it. It’s usually a nickname for [name]Harold[/name] or even [name]Henry[/name]. I’m going to have to vote for [name]Reuben[/name]. Since this is your first child, it’s good to remember that what you name your firstborn often dictates the style you choose for future children. Are you comfortable with having a [name]Hal[/name] with siblings such as [name]William[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name] and the like? Or do you gravitate towards [name]Hal[/name], [name]Will[/name], [name]Sam[/name] and [name]Beth[/name]? [name]Just[/name] something to mull over. I think [name]Reuben[/name] is a more flexible name when it comes to picking out sibling names.
I am a fan of both names 
[name]Reuben[/name] is my favorite but [name]Hal[/name] is such a great name. I personally prefer [name]Hal[/name] as a nn for [name]Halloran[/name], [name]Haldan[/name], or [name]Halston[/name]. People will pobably assume it is short for something but I don’t mind it all on it’s own. Are you planning on using a middle name? Good luck!
[name]Reuben[/name] is my current favourite name, so naturally I would say [name]Reuben[/name]. I think [name]Hal[/name] is cute, but I think of [name]Hallie[/name] from the Parent Trap or as a nn for [name]Halcyon[/name].
[name]Reuben[/name] wins over [name]Hal[/name] itself but [name]Henry[/name] NN [name]Hal[/name] might win over [name]Reuben[/name].

Prefer [name]Reuben[/name]. [name]Hal[/name] seems so . . . bleh. I just can’t picture someone with much personality.
