Copying @seawillow, because I have a few names I likely won’t ever be brave enough to use up-front, lol. Here are my top ten first names I likely won’t use (but still adore anyways).
Dream
Imani
Diamond
Legacy
Royalty
Chicago
Kulture
Princess
Precious
Ashanti
Honourable Mention: [name_f]Beyonce[/name_f] (S/O actually does like this one, so we’ll see).
I mean, I would love to use these, but I just don’t know if I can pull it off It’s an interesting and fun concept to me though to make a list!
I know a 14 year old girl named [name_u]True[/name_u], so I find that one totally usable! (But I suppose most people nowadays would associate it with the Kardashians.)
I don’t actually have an issue with the Kardashian thing - [name_f]Stormi[/name_f]'s still on my list It’s more the fact that S/O dislikes [name_u]True[/name_u], [name_f]Chicago[/name_f] and [name_u]Dream[/name_u] in their cases, if I can’t convince him, I likely won’t be able to convince others on it either lol.
Imani is very usable and known in many cultures. It kind of stands out from the rest that are more word names, except for [name_f]Ashanti[/name_f], which is more of a place/nationality name. I like some word names, especially as middles ([name_u]Dream[/name_u], [name_u]Diamond[/name_u] and [name_u]Legacy[/name_u] could work as cool middles), but I have to say the rest are a little too much for me since they sound like pet dog names.
Yes. Yes there is.
I really would love to see or maybe even use [name_u]Diamond[/name_u] as a first! So sparkly, so beautiful.
The other one on this list I’d love to see you use is [name_u]Dream[/name_u]. I can’t decide if I actually think it could work as a first. Maybe best in the middle. But I think I’d be easily persuaded to love it in the first name spot.
I could see [name_f]Imani[/name_f], [name_f]Princess[/name_f] and [name_f]Ashanti[/name_f] as firsts and any of these as middles! Especially [name_u]Dream[/name_u], it’s so romantic
I really like [name_f]Chicago[/name_f]! I didn’t understand the universal hate when the Kardashians used it. I like it as much as [name_u]North[/name_u] and more than [name_m]Saint[/name_m] and [name_m]Psalm[/name_m], and it seems less outlandish than all of those to me, since place names are such an established source of novel baby names.
I also love the sound of [name_f]Ashanti[/name_f], soft but fierce!
I think [name_f]Imani[/name_f], [name_f]Ashanti[/name_f] and [name_u]Legacy[/name_u] are usable.
The rest of the word names I think would be more obscure unless they are middles.
I did think of the Kardashians- I think people would think you were copying them if you used [name_f]Chicago[/name_f] or [name_u]Dream[/name_u] - but no one can own a name. [name_m]Just[/name_m] saying you’d have to deal with people asking, oh like [name_f]Chicago[/name_f] [name_u]West[/name_u] or like [name_u]Dream[/name_u] Kardashian? And that in itself might get annoying. Although [name_u]Dream[/name_u] and [name_f]Chicago[/name_f] are two of the cooler choices in “Kardashian baby names.”
I like [name_u]Diamond[/name_u], [name_f]Imani[/name_f], [name_u]Legacy[/name_u] and [name_f]Ashanti[/name_f] the most. [name_u]Dream[/name_u] is interesting too - have you heard of Dreama?
I get a “[name_u]Love[/name_u] and Hip Hop” vibe from this list. Some of them remind me of a celebrities or celebrity babies e.g. [name_f]Cardi[/name_f] B’s child [name_f]Kulture[/name_f], Kimye’s [name_f]Chicago[/name_f] and [name_u]Chris[/name_u] [name_m]Brown[/name_m]’s [name_u]Royalty[/name_u]. I think many of them are nice names, but might be hard to pull off if you’re not from that culture iyswim.
I’m glad a lot of people would like to see [name_u]Diamond[/name_u] return!
@choupette - I was definitely inspired by [name_u]Love[/name_u] and Hip Hop, lol. I grew up on a lot of 90s/2000s R&B and Hip Hop and it influenced my list and style somewhat I’d say I agree though, these ones aren’t ones I’d likely use, but they’re names I do really like.
