Jumping on the [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f] train. I REALLY want to add it to my UC. It’s just such a beautiful name, I love the nicknames and the Biblical meaning behind it. As a [name_u]Christian[/name_u], it really encompasses what I love in a name.
I’ve hesitated in the past because of how ‘out-there’ it is, but I’ve decided I don’t care- I love it and it’s perfectly beautiful.
I’d love to pair a one-syllable or two-syllable name with it. [name_f]My[/name_f] style is very versatile so I’m to all and any suggestions, using [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f] as a first name or middle name. I was wondering about [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f]? Is that too Biblical, even for a [name_u]Christian[/name_u]?
It is a beautiful name and seeing it on NB has made me appreciate it much more.
Eve [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f] and [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] are lovely. They do not come across as too Biblical to me, but maybe [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f] if it bothers you?
Hallelujah [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is an underrated beauty! It’s so elegant and really balances out the more extravagant [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f].
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f] - SO lovely! [name_f]Juno[/name_f] has really been growing on me lately. It also reminds me of the nickname my dad had for me as a baby.
[name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] - [name_f]Maree[/name_f] is my SO’s mum’s name, so I’d probably spell it, [name_f]Maree[/name_f], but this really inspired me! I’d never considered this one. I’m super thankful that his mum is awesome and I’d be happy to honor her in a name. This is so pretty!
I personally would feel awkward saying the name Hallelujah during lent. I was taught that the only time that Catholics (and Anglicans too, I believe) can get away with saying Alleluia during lent is when a choir is rehearsing for Easter mass. The rest of the time the word was outright forbidden. I know that Hallelujah is a variation of Alleluia not Alleluia itself and that saying someone’s name is different than the liturgical chant in mass. Everyone has different beliefs and different observances, but I know that I would not be comfortable calling someone else Hallelujah 40 days out of the year. For that reason, I can only recommend using Hallelujah as a middle name.
Interesting! I was raised Anglican but I was never taught this! [name_f]My[/name_f] church was rather laidback though, from what I remember. I just never knew this about [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f]!
My family and I are Roman Catholic, but I attended Anglican (or rather Episcopalian because US-based) schools, that drilled that into us. The parish in question is high-church and very traditional, and thus more likely to follow older practices like not saying Alleluia, entirely sung masses, etc.
I feel similarly to @kmdharrington, but ultimately the word is about rejoicing, and saying someone’s name should feel celebratory regardless of the time of the year. But people who are uncomfortable could work around the issue with a nickname during Lent. I expect [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f] would get shortened often anyway, and [name_u]Halle[/name_u] or [name_f]Lu[/name_f]/Lula would be super cute as a nickname.
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I’m not actually looking to name a real human haha, I’m just looking for combos! I’ve never been taught the lent think but I am aware of that, I’m more just trying to make combos that are beautiful to me.
