Hallie/Halle/Halley?

I’ve been stuck on this name for a bit, and I’m really starting to love it. Which spelling do you prefer? I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the idea of [name_u]Halley[/name_u] for [name_u]Halley[/name_u]'s [name_f]Comet[/name_f]–astronomy means a lot to me, and am always after new astronomy names I can add to my list (Kuiper, [name_u]Orion[/name_u], and [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] are other favorites!)–but I’m not sure I’m in love with the spelling enough quite yet? The idea of it is fairly new to me. There are pros and cons for the [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and [name_u]Halle[/name_u] spellings for me, too.

Any ideas for a combo with [name_u]Halle/name_u/[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] as a middle? Here is a link to my list, if you want to try. :stuck_out_tongue: I do like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_u]Halley[/name_u] a lot, but I’m not sure I’m ready to give up [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Mireille[/name_f]. I’m also wondering about [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]? I am wondering about [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]/[name_f]Claire[/name_f] _______ [name_u]Halle/name_u, but I haven’t found something I am happy to put in between the two yet.

If I used [name_u]Halle/name_u/[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] up front, I’d probably go for [name_u]Halle[/name_u] [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f].

Thanks, Berries!

I like [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] best as it feels nicely old-fashioned. I’d pronounce [name_u]Halley[/name_u] and [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] differently though, so that might be a factor. Hey-lee vs. hal–ee.

Agree with the above! [name_u]Halley[/name_u] to me seems pronounced Hey-lee and [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] pronounced [name_m]Hal[/name_m]-ee. I would imagine she’d have to correct pronunciation a lot if you went with [name_u]Halle[/name_u]. I don’t think it’s as pretty as the other spellings either.

I love astronomy names! As someone who goes by [name_u]Orion[/name_u], though, I might be a bit biased! Other nice feminine ones are [name_u]Vega[/name_u] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f].
I would go with [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] over [name_u]Halley[/name_u] as a first name, due to people’s tendency to say [name_u]Halley[/name_u] like the earlier poster. You could use a most astronomy-themed name for their middle name, like [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_u]Vega[/name_u].
As a middle name, I like [name_u]Halley[/name_u] better. Perhaps [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Halley[/name_u] or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_u]Halley[/name_u]? I love your taste in names!
Oh! I like [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_u]Halley[/name_u] as well.

Thanks, everyone! I’m starting to lean toward [name_u]Halle[/name_u] (or maybe [name_f]Hallie[/name_f]), as I discovered that “[name_u]Halle[/name_u]” is the first 5 letters of Hallelujah, which sort of makes me giddy? I love the idea of associating “hallelujah” with a child’s name. All that rejoicing, thanksgiving, all directed to [name_m]Jesus[/name_m], for a child. (Something, as a [name_m]Christian[/name_m], that I appreciate!) I like that [name_u]Halle[/name_u] also has Scandinavian origins–so do I. (I still like [name_u]Halley[/name_u] and [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], but am leaning more toward [name_u]Halle[/name_u] at this point.)

Now I just need to find a home for her. :stuck_out_tongue:

A bit late to this one, but I wanted to put in a vote for Halle. She feels so exotic and regal, like a Russian or Middle Eastern princess, and velvet cushions and diamonds, yet streamlined at the same time. Hallie is pretty but feels very common place and uninteresting in comparison.

EDIT: I forgot about combos! Halle Jasmine is very pretty, I like the colour contrast I get of royal purple and pale yellow.

Halle Ingrid
Halle June
Halle Phoebe
Halle Esmeralda*
Halle Mignonne
Halle Mimosa
Halle Rebekah

Claire Esmeralda Halle would be lovely, too.

I love the name [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], for a while [name_u]Halley[/name_u] was my favourite spelling and I still really like it but I feel [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] looks more like a ‘proper name’ to me. And although I usually think ‘ie’ names look nicknamey, I think [name_u]Halle[/name_u] without the I is confusing (like it could be pronounced [name_m]Hal[/name_m].)

I almost always see it spelled [name_u]Halle[/name_u].

This is one of my new favorite names and I am struggling with spelling as well. I’ve looked it up and read tons of message boards. Majority of people say you will have to correct pronunciation. Some say [name_m]Hal[/name_m]-lee others say Hey-lee for all 3 spellings. I like [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and understand the [name_u]Halley[/name_u] spelling came from the [name_u]Halley[/name_u]'s comet. I think if you are alright correcting people its a wonderful name and you couldn’t go wrong with any of the spellings.

I like [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f].

[name_u]Halley[/name_u] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] looks lit and cool, not too girly. I was going to say [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] until I read the description.
