HALP! Finding boys names impossible

I’m due in [name_u]August[/name_u], and my stubborn husband hates all my name choices. Then when he finds one he likes he drums it into my head until it grows on me and then he says he doesn’t like it that much anymore so we begin again. His current favorite that he’s said since the beginning is Ender (his favorite books are [name_m]Orson[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Card[/name_m]'s). At first I was iffy so I told him okay we could use it maybe as a middle name, but since all my name choices have been vetoed it started to grow on me. I’m desperate to try and find any names I maybe haven’t heard before since this kid needs a name and I’M IMPATIENT. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite first and middle combo with it is Ender [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u].

Names I loved and he hates:
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m]
[name_m]Kasper[/name_m]
[name_u]Theo[/name_u]

Names he liked and now doesn’t:
[name_m]Ryker[/name_m]
[name_u]Hunter[/name_u]

Maybe’s:
[name_m]Knox[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] (which we find to be a really nice name but underwhelming)
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]

While I do enjoy Ender [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], if anyone has any new suggestions I can run by the doofus that would be lovely!

Such a shame because I love all of the options that your husband vetoed! That having been said I do think Ender is a great, unusual but surprisingly likeable name as a middle or a first.

Considering your husband’s tastes have you thought about [name_m]Orson[/name_m]? Or:

[name_u]Sterling[/name_u]
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Romulus[/name_m]
[name_m]Gunnar[/name_m]
[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u]?

Best of luck!

What do you and him think about [name_m]Evander[/name_m]? Similar to Ender but the V sound adds some spunk to it. It’s not overly used but not unheard of abd it’s similar to the well known [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] or [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] or [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m] are all awesome. [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is the best in my opinion. Also, I would encourage you to rethink [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. It’s a great name! Also, what about [name_m]Leander[/name_m] instead of Ender? [name_m]Leander[/name_m] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is so handsome

I second the suggestion of [name_m]Evander[/name_m]. Also, IIRC, the character is actually called [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] and nicknamed Ender; would your husband like that? [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] “Ender” is a fantastic combo.

More suggestions-
[name_m]Archer[/name_m]

[name_m]Conan[/name_m]
[name_m]Huntley[/name_m]

[name_u]Orion[/name_u]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]

[name_m]Ernest[/name_m] ([name_m]Ernie[/name_m]) is so strong.

Agree about the [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]/Ender thing.

What about [name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m], [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]Orson[/name_m], or something along those lines? I feel like if it’s the author you love, then incorporating the author’s name gives you more choices.

If it’s the character, then perhaps the [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Leander[/name_m], and [name_u]Drew[/name_u] suggestions are good ways to look at this differently.

Good luck!

Maybe
[name_m]Knox[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] (which we find to be a really nice name but underwhelming)
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]

Ender Welles

Ender [name_m]Kane[/name_m]

Ender [name_m]Knox[/name_m]

These are from some of the Characters he played. COngrats and good luck. BTW: my insufferable opinion is as follows:

Because I am a name nerd addict (my sister calls me a name snob) many people have asked my advice about names.

I have learned through the years when it comes to names and husbands: Many Mom’s are with the kids twice as much as the husbands, but as my Mom states from experience as well: "they really don’t care what you name them after they are born then several years later they believe that they had a large part in naming them, or even say they have chosen the name. For my firstborn I wanted desperately for my Husband and I to carefully choose a name. He nixed every single one of my ideas and in the end chose the entire name which 24 years later I do not like! I named the second child what I chose. He hated it and walked out of the hospital after awhile (a year later I asked him what he thought and he said-doesn’t really matter her name suits her) [name_f]My[/name_f] Dad was the same and my sister’s husband as well as 95% of my friends that have asked me, LOL

[name_m]Knox[/name_m] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] sounds really good together!!!
[name_m]Silas[/name_m] Ender (I love the name [name_m]Silas[/name_m]. Might be a good compromise…?)
[name_u]August[/name_u] Ender (same as above). I also like [name_m]Stellan[/name_m].
You have some great name choices!! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is similar to yours. Almost every name I mention he finds something wrong with it, but we aren’t expecting yet.

[name_m]Augustus[/name_m]
[name_u]Wade[/name_u]
[name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_u]Easton[/name_u]
[name_m]Hendrix[/name_m]
[name_u]Cruz[/name_u]
[name_m]Maverick[/name_m]
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u]
[name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]
[name_m]Quade[/name_m]
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_m]Marcellus[/name_m]
[name_m]Maxen[/name_m]
[name_m]Draven[/name_m]
[name_m]Cassius[/name_m]
[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]
[name_m]Weston[/name_m]
[name_m]Jagger[/name_m]
[name_m]Bronx[/name_m]

Well he likes -er endings.

[name_m]Archer[/name_m]

[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]
[name_m]Thayer[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]

I kinda like Ender though!

[name_m]Conall[/name_m] Ender
Eliester [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
Dasher [name_m]Conrad[/name_m]
[name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
[name_m]Baker[/name_m] Sonnington
[name_m]Barker[/name_m] [name_m]Josef[/name_m]
[name_m]Baxter[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u]
Baeur [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m]
[name_m]Braizer[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Booker[/name_m] Neon

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps! You’ve got quite an eccentric taste so I kept it broad, I thought that the B names were just nicely boyish in line with your choices and the er endings are for your husband!

I totally second the previous poster who said that husbands get over it. I’ve named six children with my hubby and we’re naming our last in [name_u]December[/name_u]. He always hates everything. With the last two I stuck to my guns and refused to budge (mostly because I would give him fifty names and he would say no to all of them). Now he doesn’t even notice their names whereas I’m still sort of miffed that I gave up [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] for our third child to be nice (her name is [name_f]Emeline[/name_f], which is also beautiful but she has bright orange hair and is totally spunky and would have rocked [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]–I should have stuck to my guns on that one). Women don’t get over it. Men forget about it in about 6 months.

This time around I smartened up. I told him the names I was using for both genders and then told him I wasn’t changing my mind unless HE came up with something I liked as much. Much less stress for me. Now I just smile pleasantly when he says, “T-[name_u]Rex[/name_u]” or “Withington Cheesemore” and know that, in the end, I’ll get what I want unless he comes up with something brilliant. And then I’ll still get what I want because his name will be brilliant.

I quite like Ender. I also like [name_m]Silas[/name_m] Ender.

“in the end, I’ll get what I want unless he comes up with something brilliant. And then I’ll still get what I want because his name will be brilliant.”

This is hilarious! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!

I like Ender [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]

Seconding the suggestions of [name_m]Evander[/name_m] and [name_m]Leander[/name_m]!
