Hardy as a family name???

I’m English and this would not have occurred to me.

I think it’s fine! [name_m]Hardy[/name_m] is the surname of one of my friends and she’s never been teased about it

As a surname it’s fine

[name_m]Hardy[/name_m] is very sexual to me… no matter how I think about it. And it will get made fun of a lot even if you think no ones saying anything.

Maybe [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], or [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]?

I honestly would never have thought of that. It’s a pretty common surname, and there’s the [name_m]Hardy[/name_m] Boys series (popular with kids). I think it would be just fine.

As a surname, it’s totally fine in my opinion. Where I live it’s fairly common and I’ve never heard anyone make a rude comment about it.

I think as a surname [name_m]Hardy[/name_m] is fine  . It’s a fairly common name the same as Hardman, harder etc…

[name_m]Hardy[/name_m] is a very famous surname in the UK. There was an author called [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Hardy[/name_m] who is arguably of the most important and most popular authors of the 19th century… also there was an [name_m]Admiral[/name_m] [name_m]Hardy[/name_m] who apparently was something of a hero but I don’t know exactly what he did, just that he has a memorial near where he was born.

I wouldn’t make any connection to anything sexual.

[name_m]Hardy[/name_m] is perfectly useable as a surname, and is common in the UK. It does not come across as a sexual term at all to me, in fact it is a gardening term as in that plant is hardy (can survive tough weather) and also is used by celebs for example actor [name_m]Tom[/name_m] [name_m]Hardy[/name_m]. Also in the UK the term hard can be used to mean that person is (or thinks they are) tough.

I know families with the surname [name_m]Hardy[/name_m]. No issues. It means healthy.

bump…i need more opinions please…
