I think that that would work fine. Both Aria and Harper are beautiful names, and they sound great together! The only down-side that I can see between the two names is that they are of slightly different. (At least in my opinion, aris is the tough rebel, and Harper is a flowery social-butterfly.) But I still think that they totally work for siblings! (and kind of the same for Harper as a boy…Just not flowery) Hope this helped!
Yes, I think they are great. It’s true that stylistically they’re a bit different, but the thing that leapt out at me was the musical connection-- a harper is someone who plays the harp, and an aria is a kind of musical composition. They’re very pretty together.
LOL, you must not be a musician!
Most non-music people wouldn’t catch it because they are subtle but [name]Harper[/name] & [name]Aria[/name] are a perfect pair
An aria is a melody sang solo. Habanera and La donna è mobile are probably the most well-known arias
And of course a harper is a person who plays the harp
I voted for “Yes, it’s fine” but what I really wanted to vote for was “YES YES YES!! These names are gorgeous together!!!”
I feel you on the overthinking it thing – I did the same thing. I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] these names together. And I actually like that they share the “ar” sound – it feels like the perfect and subtle tie together that some people think twins names need. I really hope these names stick for you because I would just feel so happy knowing there are little twin girls out there names [name]Harper[/name] and [name]Aria[/name]. Simply beautiful.
Harper & Aria sound really similar.
[name]One[/name] may resent the other, because they have a girly/tomboy name. I would use a uni-sex first name and then girly middle. Or a girly first and uni-sex middle.
[name]Just[/name] remember that if you have a son, the name will have to be overly masculine to make the distintiction clear.
If I heard:
[name]Harper[/name], [name]Aria[/name] & [name]Sebastian[/name].
I would guess two boys and a girl, because [name]Aria[/name] is so girly.
Aside from the politics of the names, I think [name]Harper[/name] and [name]Aria[/name] are pretty together!
I believe [name]Harper[/name] and [name]Aria[/name] make a wonderful sibset - I got the musical connection right away, which I really like!
And this is why I love this pair! Well said
I don’t think they will resent each other. Being a twin myself with a particularly dated, middle-aged-mom name, I never once resented my twin for her spunky, cool '80s name. I definitely felt that I got the short end of the stick, but resentment? That wouldn’t make sense. It wasn’t her choice any more than it was mine. And it wasn’t like we could switch names even if she wanted to. Your twin daughters will most likely be friends with each other and will get along well enough to not create conflict over a petty issue such as name jealousy, and if they do, it will pass and not tear apart the family.
I had no resentment toward my parents either, because clearly THEY loved the names they gave us, so how could I fault them for that? I think any girl would adore having the names [name]Harper[/name] OR [name]Aria[/name]. I think they’re awesome choices.
Resent each other? Probably not. I think there will very likely be some confusion, though.
If I heard of twins named [name]Harper[/name] and [name]Aria[/name], I would definitely assume that [name]Harper[/name] was a boy. If you really love [name]Harper[/name] (and it sounds as though you do), you might be better off choosing another GN name for her twin. Since you’re going for a musical theme, how about:
[name]Cadence[/name]
[name]Clarion[/name]
[name]Lyric[/name]
[name]Piper[/name]
[name]Brio[/name]

HTH!
I don’t think that [name]Harper[/name] is masculine at all. It’s a perfect twin combo, and I happen to love both names!
I think it’s actually a pretty blatant twin pair. [name]Both[/name] musical, both trendy, similar sound combinations, balance with more letters in one and more syllables in the other.
I think [name]Aria[/name] is pretty, I’m not super fond of [name]Harper[/name] but it’s not bad. I think they’re a great match, especially if you love them both independently so much.
I voted no due to them both having AR in them
