I have two sons, [name]Eli[/name] and [name]Jackson[/name], and I’m expecting a girl at the beginning of [name]October[/name]. I’m mostly partial to sweet old lady names, because they’re timeless and go well with my boys’ names. But recently I saw [name]Harper[/name] in a baby name book and loved it, both for [name]Harper[/name] [name]Lee[/name] and [name]Charley[/name] [name]Harper[/name].
We live just outside [name]Madison[/name], Wisconsin and I haven’t known of any girls with that name before, but I’ve seen it come up quite a bit on this site. Can anyone clue me in to its popularity elsewhere in the country? Not so much where it ranks, but if you’ve been hearing it around, how often, if it’s in danger of becoming the next too-trendy name, etc. Thank you!
I think its a pretty tryndee sounding name, I used to like it, it just seems somewhat washed out to me now. I do like your idea of [name]Charlie[/name] though, but I like this spelling and I think, it your going to give her a more tomboy sounding name (she most likely will be a tomboy) she would need a feminine sounding middle name, just in case she does turn out to be a girly girl.
[name]Charlie[/name] [name]Anne[/name]
[name]Charlie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Charlie[/name] [name]Isabella[/name] (but in Twilight the girls name is [name]Isabella[/name] and her dads name is [name]Charlie[/name]…)
Oh! I forgot to add! Theres a show called [name]Harper[/name]'s island where theres a killer loose and every week some people get killed off in gruesome ways so, just food for the thought!
Sorry! I meant because it reminds me of the author [name]Harper[/name] [name]Lee[/name] and the artist [name]Charley[/name] [name]Harper[/name]. But it’s funny you said that, because my husband suggested [name]Charlie[/name] for her. Your ideas were really cute. I think with two older brothers, though, I’ll stick with something a little more feminine. She’ll have it hard enough as is…
To keep her name more feminine, I would go with [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name]. [name]Harper[/name] is pretty, too. I think of it as feminine because one of my son’s friends who is a girl is named [name]Harper[/name].
I think [name]Harper[/name] is really cute for a girl, we thought about it for our baby due in a couple of weeks. I know one [name]Harper[/name], a little boy in one of my 2 year old’s classes, but that wouldn’t stop me from using [name]Harper[/name] for a girl.
[name]Harper[/name] is definitely trendy to me (as well as the surnames for girls’ first names trend), and the name is becoming popular. If you’re concerned about trendiness, what about using it in the middle? I know of two babies and a teenager named [name]Harper[/name], all girls.
harper strikes me as a little trendy, but considering you’ve got a jackson and an eli (both VERY popular in my area), it doesn’t seem out of place in your family.
but, like jill said, you could use it in the middle. harper lee’s name was actually nelle harper lee, after all.
I love [name]Harper[/name] for a girl, especially the link to [name]Harper[/name] [name]Lee[/name]. I think it’s a really strong name with [name]Eli[/name] and Jacksonb too.
I love [name]Harper[/name] for a girl. We live in Chicago and I know two little Harpers. I think it’s sort of trendy, but still wonderful and not overly popular at all. I say go for it!
