Harris or Harrison but dislike Harry?

Hey girls!

So I’m really loving [name]Harris[/name] or [name]Harrison[/name] for if this little one is a boy. But I’m
Not too keen on [name]Harry[/name] :/. Think I can still manage it? And which form of the name
[name]Do[/name] you like best? For [name]Harrison[/name] I like [name]Harris[/name] as a nn :). [name]How[/name] does [name]Alexander[/name] sound as a mn? But open to suggestions. Any other boy names you think I would like? Nothing too popular, but sweet and charming.

Thanks

[name]Harrison[/name] isn’t my style, but I think you could get away with [name]Harrison[/name] nn [name]Harris[/name] and [name]Harrison[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] is great!

I love [name]Truman[/name] and [name]Davis[/name]! Thank you

With [name]Davis[/name] do u think [name]Dave[/name] is a given though? [name]Truman[/name] is awesome. [name]Love[/name] it

[name]Glad[/name] u think I can get away with [name]Harrison[/name] nn [name]Harris[/name]. Plus you like the mn, yay!

I think you’d have some problems with [name]Dave[/name] or [name]Davey[/name], but I think you could easily tell people to only call him [name]Davis[/name]. I’m glad you like [name]Truman[/name]. i love it with nn [name]True[/name].

I really like [name]Harris[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]! I like it better than [name]Harrison[/name] because [name]Harrison[/name] seems very on-trend with all the -on, -en, -an names right now. [name]Harris[/name] definitely stands out and is unique without being over the top.

As a side note, I knew a family that named their little boy [name]Harrison[/name] and called him [name]Harry[/name]. At first, I thought they were crazy to do [name]Harry[/name] with the whole “hairy” connotation. But I have to tell you… they couldn’t have picked a better name for him. It suits him so well, and has turned out to be a fantastic name. As a plus, there are definitely no other little [name]Harry[/name]'s around! Also, I find that I do NOT make the “hairy” connotation when I say or think about his name. Not at all - ever since he’s been born.

[name]Don[/name]'t know if “hairy” is what has you hesitant to use [name]Harry[/name], but I thought I’d share my experience. Good luck!

I know several guys named [name]Harrison[/name], and none of them get called [name]Harry[/name]. They all go by [name]Harrison[/name] in full. [name]Harris[/name] is less “nickname-proof” if that’s what you’re going for, and I would just name him [name]Harris[/name] if that’s what you’re going to call him anyway. [name]Harris[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] is very handsome.

Thanks girls! Yeah it’s the hairy [name]Harry[/name] connection :/. I think I cam get
Over that but I still don’t like that name for some reason and not even
Sure why. [name]Just[/name] hits me the wrong way I guess. But I have to
[name]Say[/name]…

I love [name]Truman[/name]!!! Nn tru is amazing. A bit girlie maybe but I think it works. Thanks for the suggestion! [name]Will[/name]
[name]Add[/name] this to my very short boy list so far

Same here. I’ve known a few Harrisons and none of them ever went by or were called [name]Harry[/name], so I don’t think you’ll have to worry about the nickname thing.

While it may seem like a name everyone will shorten, I can tell you from experience that at least these days, so many parents choose to call their child by their full name so its not uncommon. I know boys named [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]James[/name], [name]Russell[/name], [name]Michael[/name],[name]Thomas[/name], and [name]Stephen[/name] who all are called those names and not the “normal” nicnames you would think come with them. I also know girls who go by their full names ([name]Victoria[/name], [name]Katharine[/name], and [name]Elizabeth[/name] are ones that pop in my head) and like the boys, never go by nic names. Growing up, it was a given that a child would go by a nic name of their name, but now, not so much. Anyways, if you love those names go for it and if people try to shorten them, tell them “His name is [name]Harris[/name]/on, not [name]Harry[/name]” and people will learn. Of course he could want to go by [name]Harry[/name] as he gets older, but by then it probably will not seem strange, it will be the same boy you love.

Aw, very true!! [name]Harrison[/name] or [name]Harris[/name] are my absolute favorite names. So glad u girls think that [name]Harry[/name] won’t be a big problem! And i/
Already starting to grow on me! Starting to remind me of British royalty, so it’s not so bad.

So [name]Harris[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] then? I like that it doesn’t have that trendy son ending and is a bit more nickname proof since it’s shorter, right?

Still love harrison though so I’m still a bit unsure which one…[name]Harrison[/name] flows
Off my tongue better. [name]Harris[/name] feels chopped off to me sometimes. Plus I still think I can use [name]Harris[/name] as
A nn, yeah?

Which one goes best with your last name? If your last name has 2 syllables, go with [name]Harrison[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]. If it has 3 syllables, go with [name]Harris[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]. If it has 1 or more than 3 then… my rule system doesn’t help. I think both your choices go very nicely with [name]Alexander[/name] as does [name]Truman[/name].
[name]Truman[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]… yup. I like it.
