Harris too close to Harrison

We have a close family member who recently had a baby named [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]. Is [name_m]Harris[/name_m] too similar? Would you be mad? :grimacing:

I do think they’re too close. If I were [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]’s parent I would be a little upset, I think, but would keep it to myself

It wouldn’t bother me.

Thank you all.

Maybe you’d like [name_m]Ferris[/name_m]?

Unfortunately I do think it’s too similar. If I were [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]'s mom, I’d feel kind of ripped off, though I wouldn’t say anything.

I wouldn’t be upset if I were [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]’s parent. Name your child what you want. The names aren’t too similar for me. [name_m]Farris[/name_m] is a cute alternative if you decide to change it.

They are pretty close. I don’t necessarily think I would be mad, but if it’s a family you’re going to be around a lot, I might consider a different option.

I wouldn’t be mad. They’re close but they aren’t the same name. How often do you see them? A few times a year, not a big deal. If you see them multiple times every week, it might be tricky.

Too close. Sorry
I like the idea of [name_m]Ferris[/name_m]!

Other ideas:
[name_m]Hamish[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_m]Otis[/name_m]
[name_u]Francis[/name_u]
[name_m]Travis[/name_m]
[name_m]Julius[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_m]Harlan[/name_m]
[name_m]Harold[/name_m]
[name_m]Harvey[/name_m]

I’d ask the family member.

I agree that you should ask the family member but they are pretty close. I love the name [name_m]Harris[/name_m] but I see it as unusable now in the US unless you are intentionally looking to name your child after [name_f]Kamala[/name_f] [name_m]Harris[/name_m] (which is fine, just something to consider!)

I think they’re too close. I mean [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] is literally “son of [name_m]Harris[/name_m]/ [name_u]Harry[/name_u].” I would still consider it as a middle (after consulting them) but not as a first. I love the suggestion of [name_m]Ferris[/name_m] as an alternative. They’s still be similar, but in a way I’d feel more comfortable with.

It’s too close for me and would bother me if I were your relative. How about [name_u]Davis[/name_u]?

Personally, I would think they were too close.
