[name]Just[/name] as quickly as it was in, name [name]William[/name] is out!
I decided [name]William[/name] just wasn’t for me and I know far too many to name my own child the same name.
But today I started thinking about [name]Harvey[/name]
My orginal (crazy) theme for my boy’s list is vintage, 3 syllables, and contains an L. [name]Harvey[/name] is only vintage, but I’m willing to over-look the other “short comings”
I’ve always had a soft spot for it and don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner. I don’t think it’s too old man sounding and sounds nice with the other names in my list
Any thoughts/opinions or just general feedback is appreciated! Also middle name suggestions would be great if anyone’s up for it
I know so many Harveys born in the 40s and 50s that it still seems dated to me, but I also think it would be cool to meet a little [name]Harvey[/name]
Middle name suggestions:
I have also come to like [name]Harvey[/name]. Actually, I threw it out as a suggestion for a middle name on Nameberry (combo was [name]Declan[/name] [name]Harvey[/name]) and it’s been sticking with me ever since. I think [name]Harvey[/name] Dent from the Batman series has also helped me see this vintage name working for today.
My friend wants to name his son after his father. So the baby will be [name]Harvey[/name]. I actually really like it. Go for it! [name]Harvey[/name] is cool.
For me, Harvey is a family name that goes all the way back to the late 1700s. For that reason I see Harvey as being less dated and more timeless. I think Harvey would be an awesome choice for a boy. It has a good sound.
If I’m not mistaken Harvey is already fairly popular in the UK, so it’s only a matter of time before it gets popular in the US as well. Didn’t Harvey reenter the top 1000 in 2011?
ETA: Yes, it did! Harvey went from not ranking in 2010 to #862 in 2011. There were only 59 more boys named Harvey in 2011 than in 2010, but that’s still a big jump.
I love the underappreciated [name]Harvey[/name] and I don’t know why parents consider [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Harry[/name] but dismiss [name]Harvey[/name] so readily. In [name]Britain[/name], it’s the height of fashion. [name]Harvey[/name] is not only a surname but it’s the name of a saint as well (St. Hervé aka [name]Harvey[/name]). I think it’s very versatile too because for me it has two images: an elegant English gentleman and a down-to-earth, working class decent man.
bradley doesnt have any of the same feeling as harvey does, in my honest opinon. bradley sounds extremely dated and boring, compared to the spunky harvey. [name]Harvey[/name] is also on my list! and i would never consider bradley
I love [name]Harvey[/name] is well and it has an awesome saint connection for me. The only strong connection for me is to the character with the same name on [name]Sabrina[/name] the Teenage Witch but I am sure today’skids will not remember that. I say go for it!!
Wow lots of awesome feedback here!!! Thanks so much guys! love the middle name suggestions too and all the information about the name. [name]Harvey[/name] is definatley on my list, I think i’m even going to move it up to spot #2 in my future favorites Thanks again everyone!
I’m all for Harvey! One of my absolute favorites <3 However, if you want a name to meet 2/3 criteria, have you considered Harley? May not be 3-syllables, but it’s vintage and has an L. I still prefer Harvey over Harley, but it’s not a bad alternative
I also happen to love William as well Harvey William is cute <3
