Is Harvey unusable? I’ve asked a few friends and they’ve all immediately said “like Harvey Weinstein!???!”
I’m in the US so maybe it’s just here.

I’m in the US so maybe it’s just here.
I’m also in the US.
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was a town near where I was born. Second thought was Weinstein. While he wasn’t the first association, I do think the name is blemished. Maybe not for forever but certainly for awhile.
I literally never think of him when I hear the name, I’m honestly always surprised when someone in the forums says they associate the name with him since it’s not really a one person name like [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f] or [name_m]Napoleon[/name_m]. I don’t tie the name to anything in particular, personally.
First thought is him. And I have had a neighbor with the name who I’ve known far longer than I ever knew about Weinstein. Third association is the boyfriend from the original [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] the Teenage Witch.
I know a few babies called [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] now, it’s becoming quite popular. I’m in Australia
My immediate first thought is Harvey from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, who is a lovable character. I also get disappointed to hear that so many others think of the awful Weinstein. I agree with @futuremama more than one person can have this name (I’m in the US too)
I think [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] is a super cool vintage name. [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was the 2017 hurricane since we lived through it. Second thought was Weinstein. Third thought was [name_m]Paul[/name_m] [name_m]Harvey[/name_m]. I don’t think it’s ruined. I still think it’s very handsome and usable. Like someone else said, more than one person is aloud to have a certain name (unless it’s [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f] or whatever [name_u]Elon[/name_u] Musk named his son…)
[name_m]Harvey[/name_m] is (and has been for a while) fairly popular here in the UK, so I think the name is certainly usable and completely wearable. That said, the Weinstein case is one of the first things that springs to mind for me hearing the name in the abstract, but on a real life person I doubt that would be the case! I know a couple of young Harveys – aged between 5-10 – and I never think of Weinstein when talking to or about them.
I’ve met a couple of Harveys here in the UK, so I don’t exclusively associate it with Weinstein
It’s not unusable, but unfortunately, my first association is Weinstein. I don’t live in a english speaking country, so I’ve never meet a [name_m]Harvey[/name_m]. I believe it depends where you live and the associations you have with the name [name_m]Harvey[/name_m].
I’ve wondered the same thing. [name_f]My[/name_f] first association with [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] will forever be the [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] movie. [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] Weinstein’s case was so emblematic, but I think his last name is the stronger emblem or maybe a combination.
Unfortunately my main associations with [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] are [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] Weinstein and [name_f]Katie[/name_f] Price’s rather unfortunate son [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] (I live in the UK). It’s not a name I would choose personally, but it’s a (somewhat) common name, so I don’t think it’s unusable. I hope people would have the politeness not to mention Weinstein to a boy named [name_m]Harvey[/name_m].
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] Milk. I think as time goes on, the connection to Weinstein will lessen.
I immediately think of him too. I think the issue with [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] is more of a US thing. It’s a somewhat uncommon name here and the me too movement was/is pretty big here.
I love the name. It has such a handsome vintage sound, and I grew up liking the association with the teenage witch. But there’s [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] Weinstein, and [name_f]Hurricane[/name_f] [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] couple years ago.
But!
If I heard of someone else who used [name_m]Harvey[/name_m], I would actually be excited about it. It’s an opportunity to redeem the name.
I actually don’t have any kind of association when hearing [name_m]Harvey[/name_m]. I think it’s a usable name for sure!
