A portuguese actress had her baby today and named him [name_m]Lon[/name_m]ô. The father is french and they both speak 3 different languages: portuguese, french and english, so I was expecting something different but not THAT different. I never heard of it (Also not listed on Nameberry)! Apparently it is the Hawaiian God of music and peace.
Has anyone ever heard of it before?
I’ve never heard it. That’s a wonderful meaning/mythology behind the name. I can see it for a multicultural artistic family. Maybe nn Loie, or [name_u]Lonnie[/name_u]? I’m not sure how well it would wear here in the US. It sounds a bit more acronym than baby name to me…yolo lono… I think I prefer Solo, as in Han.
At first I thought it was short for something or a cute pet name but no, it’s his full name. Portugal is a extremely conservative country when it comes to names. According to a newspaper recently, half the babies born in 2018 were given a top 20 name, so I’m pretty sure this [name_m]Lon[/name_m]ô is the only one in the entire country, and will be for a long while.
