I’ve recently been crushing on these “cutesy” Nicknames. What are your favorite formal names to get these nick names? ::
[name]Hatsy[/name] (Nickname for [name]Harriet[/name], but do you think it could be used on it’s own? [name]Will[/name] this age well?)
[name]Kitty[/name] (I’m not sold on [name]Catherine[/name]/[name]Katherine[/name] yet)
[name]Birdie[/name] (I’m thinking of using it on it’s own or using [name]Beatrice[/name]!)
[name]Pepper[/name] (Guilty pleasure! Is this usable on it’s own? What could be a formal name?)
[name]Dulcie[/name] ([name]LOVE[/name] this. Again, is this usable?)

I love [name]Birdie[/name]! I put it on my list…I wish you could have seen DH’s face [name]Alas[/name], we will not be having a child named [name]Birdie[/name].
I think [name]Hatsy[/name] is the only one that is usable on its own. I love [name]Birdie[/name] as a nickname, we call my sister [name]Robyn[/name] this.
[name]Hatsy[/name] – I don’t think this could stand on its own, but it’s a cute nickname for a child named [name]Harriet[/name]. As far as it aging well, I’m not sure I’d want to be called that still as an adult.
[name]Kitty[/name] – What about using a variation of [name]Katherine[/name] as the first name? For instance, [name]Katerina[/name]. Come to think of it, this could even be a cute nickname for [name]Katelyn[/name]. Or, how about something like [name]Cadence[/name]?
[name]Birdie[/name] – This is a cute nickname for [name]Beatrice[/name]! Could also be used with a bird name as pp mentioned. [name]Wren[/name] is my personal favorite.
[name]Pepper[/name] – Oh wow, this is really cute! Hmm, maybe Eponine or [name]Eppie[/name]?
[name]Dulcie[/name] – I love this as a nn for [name]Dulcinea[/name] or just on it’s own.
Lua – This isn’t my style, but I think it could stand on its own.
Oh, and [name]Henrietta[/name] nn [name]Etta[/name] is lovely.
Generally, I don’t have a problem with nickname names myself. I think some of them can be solid first names. That said:
[name]Hatsy[/name] - feels a bit cutesy for a first name. I like [name]Hattie[/name] a bit better. [name]Harriet[/name] might be the best route to go.
[name]Kitty[/name] - I like it well enough. It could probably stand as a first name, but I would probably use [name]Katherine[/name] or even [name]Kate[/name] to ground it.
[name]Birdie[/name] - I have a soft spot for this one, because [name]Bird[/name] is the middle name of one of my great great grandfathers. Maybe it could work on its own? I like the idea of [name]Beatrice[/name] nn [name]Birdie[/name], though. I’m all for giving a kid options.
[name]Pepper[/name] - I [name]LOVE[/name] this. For a full name, how about [name]Philippa[/name] or [name]Penelope[/name]? I don’t think [name]Pepper[/name] itself is really a stretch, though. [name]Piper[/name] is a familiar name. Why not [name]Pepper[/name]?
[name]Dulcie[/name] - Eh…
Lua - Not familiar with this one.
[name]Etta[/name] - I actually like this on its own.
[name]Minnie[/name] - I can’t wrap my mind around this one. I do like [name]Minerva[/name], though.

[name]Hatsy[/name] - [name]Harriet[/name] is one ofmy fav names, and i alsoprefer [name]Hatsy[/name] to [name]Hattie[/name].
[name]Kitty[/name] - [name]Catherine[/name] has to be a forerunner. perhaps [name]Nikita[/name] also?or an irish name catriona (phonetical alternative: [name]Katarina[/name], also)
[name]Birdie[/name] - adore this name i do. suggestions: [name]Bernadette[/name], [name]Bridget[/name] and one i toy with a lot: [name]Amber[/name]

Lua - this one is very cute. haven’t heard of it before,i could suggest [name]Luna[/name], [name]Louisa[/name].
[name]Hatsy[/name] - I like [name]Hatsy[/name] quiet well, also more than [name]Hattie[/name]. I do think it needs to be a nickname, for [name]Harriet[/name] and I think you could do for [name]Henrietta[/name] as well!
[name]Kitty[/name] - I like it but like [name]Kit[/name] better. Besides [name]Katherine[/name] and its ethnic variations…[name]Keturah[/name]?
[name]Birdie[/name] - I prefer it as a nn, for [name]Beatrice[/name] works! Or for a bird name like [name]Wren[/name], [name]Lark[/name], etc.?
[name]Pepper[/name] - I don’t care for it, but, it could work, the right girl could pull it off. [name]Fuller[/name] name could be [name]Philippa[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Piper[/name].
[name]Dulcie[/name] - I like this, I like the Spanish [name]Dulce[/name] better. But either way I just hear “dull” in English.
Lua - hmm. I’d prefer [name]Lula[/name] or [name]Luna[/name]. But this would work with a hefty enough last name, I think.

Well, [name]Dulcie[/name] is usable as is, I think. So is Lua. [name]Pepper[/name]–sure, why not? I could get [name]Pepper[/name] from [name]Penelope[/name].
Everyone has been so helpful! I love [name]Pepper[/name] on it’s own, but [name]Penelope[/name] is a great idea. It’s also my grandmother’s name! Great way to honor her.
