I think I can guess what most of you all will say to this, but do you think [name]Hattie[/name] and [name]Lottie[/name] are too close for sisters? I know that they end with the same letters, but they don’t really sound all that close to me.
Also, what are your opinions of these names? Which one do you prefer? Thanks!
I would say to close, yes. But the other thing you need to consider is your girls’ future. If [name]Lottie[/name] wants to be a lawyer, it could be hard with a name like that. As nicknames, [name]Hattie[/name] and [name]Lottie[/name] are fine. But what you. Really don’t want is [name]Dottie[/name] and [name]Lottie[/name]. Httie is better, because it has more room for her to be herself, and choose her own path, so to speak.
I think they are pretty close, what about [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Harriet[/name] with the NNs [name]Lottie[/name] and [name]Hattie[/name]? I cannot really see [name]Lottie[/name] as a stand alone name. I actually like [name]Hattie[/name] a lot by itself, so my vote would go to [name]Hattie[/name].
I agree with dillonsfan01 I much prefer sisters [name]Harriet[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] nicknamed [name]Hattie[/name] and [name]Lottie[/name] ([name]LOVE[/name] the nickname [name]Lottie[/name] from [name]Charlotte[/name]) I feel this would set them apart so it wouldn’t bee seen as too ‘matchy matchy’ and also wouldn’t limit a hypothetical 3rd daughter to having a similar nickname ‘tie’ ending name… though ‘full’ names with nn possibilities are my preference over nickname names
I don’t like any full names for [name]Hattie[/name], so I would use just that. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name], but the popularity is a huge turn off to me. But then I think about it and most Charlottes probably aren’t [name]Lottie[/name], right? And then I try to think about if I were calling her [name]Lottie[/name] majority of the time, why wouldn’t I just name her that? I know a lot of adults (including several very close to me) that have a “nickname” as a given name and they have turned out just fine! And if I had a [name]Charlotte[/name] who went by [name]Lottie[/name] most of the time, would it really make a difference? I would still have “[name]Hattie[/name] and [name]Lottie[/name].” Hmm lots to think about!
Sorry, I think they are a little to close. I think [name]Lottie[/name] is a tad prettier and I like the full names better for [name]Lottie[/name] compared for the full names for [name]Hattie[/name].
[name]Do[/name] you like the name [name]Mattie[/name]? I would use full names for them even if you won’t use them.
[name]Harriet[/name] nn [name]Hattie[/name]
[name]Martha[/name] nn [name]Mattie[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Lottie[/name]
If you did name them [name]Hattie[/name] and [name]Lottie[/name]. What would you do if you had a 3rd?
Not a fan of [name]Mattie[/name], it’s too common for me. If I had a [name]Hattie[/name] and [name]Lottie[/name], I would name my 3rd whatever I wanted to! I’m not concerned by that at all since I am planning on having 4 or 5 kids.
I think that they are too close. I agree with pps on the idea to use full names with nicknames. I much prefer [name]Lottie[/name] over [name]Hattie[/name] if they were to be used as names themselves.
If [name]Charlotte[/name] is too popular for you, what about [name]Carlotta[/name] “[name]Lottie[/name]”?
The only other name I can think of that can get the nickname “[name]Hattie[/name]” is [name]Henriette[/name]/[name]Henrietta[/name], but even then, that might be a stretch.
I think they are okay for sisters because although they end in -ttie they sound different enough. Especially if they are nicknames for [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Harriet[/name] or [name]Henrietta[/name].
I think [name]Hattie[/name] and [name]Lottie[/name] are both cute. I slightly prefer [name]Lottie[/name]. Personally I wouldn’t use them as full names - but I really like [name]Charlotte[/name], and not crazy about [name]Harriet[/name] or [name]Henrietta[/name].
Personally I love the name [name]Charlotte[/name] & I plan on using it, despite its rank on the baby name charts. I’d use [name]Henrietta[/name] instead of [name]Harriet[/name] & [name]Hattie[/name] can be a nn for that. But I agree the full names are best because they need a name that matures with them–[name]Henrietta[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name] and a future girl could be
[name]Tabitha[/name] nn [name]Tabbie[/name]
[name]Mathilda[/name] nn [name]Mattie[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Nellie[/name]
Yes, they may be too close and some people could get confused but it would be a sweet connection. I like [name]Lottie[/name] better and like [name]Lettie[/name] even more.
