Ok looking for some input, [name]Hattie[/name] is a family name that we are considering for hopefully a soon to be sister to [name]Lola[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name], I know the whole debate about it being a nn to [name]Harriet[/name] but our family history of it is always as [name]Hattie[/name] never [name]Harriet[/name] and we just arent a fan of [name]Harriet[/name]… Anyways, our fear is the nickname possibility of “Fattie” or “Fattie [name]Hattie[/name]” I know it seems silly but I was reading feedback on a different site from people named [name]Hattie[/name] who were teased that way in school…so do you think [name]Hattie[/name] would automatically be teased that way?
I honestly didn’t think of that until you mentioned it. I think it’s a great name, and it goes well with [name]Lola[/name]. I love her name, by the way!
[name]Every[/name] name has a potential for teasing. My husband got called [name]Daniel[/name] Cocker Spaniel as a kid - it was stupid, but kids will find anything to tease about, even with a completely common and accepted name. I wouldn’t worry about it much.
I have recently warmed up greatly to the name [name]Hattie[/name], though I still hate [name]Harriett[/name]. I would have never thought of Fattie [name]Hattie[/name] and even though you mentioned it I still don’t think it is really an issue. [name]Every[/name] name has some form of teasing potential and this really is not anything obvious.
I like it!
I love [name]Hattie[/name]! It’s cute as a button. I’m usually one for longer names, but I like the added family significance of just [name]Hattie[/name], and I think [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Hattie[/name] work stylistically so much more than [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Harriet[/name] would.
Like so many of the others, Fattie [name]Hattie[/name] didn’t even enter my mind. It sort of reminds me of my worries over [name]Lottie[/name] as a nn (Plotty [name]Lottie[/name], [name]Lottie[/name] is in the potty, etc., lol), but I don’t think the worries over [name]Lottie[/name] (or [name]Hattie[/name]!) are bad enough to keep you from using it. [name]Hattie[/name] is well-known, even though it’s seen as a bit old-fashioned still, and I think it’s totally usable. [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Hattie[/name] are adorable together!
ANY name is teasable. As long as you’re not naming your child something ridiculous or perverse, I think you’re good. I think [name]Hattie[/name] is lovely. It’s my great grandmother’s name, and I’m considering it, too.
[name]Love[/name] love love the name [name]Hattie[/name] and have for a long time. Use it!
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Hattie[/name]! I think any name can be teased (my name is [name]Jessica[/name] and people called me “[name]Jess[/name] the mess” growing up) so unfortunately, I think “fattie hattie” will come up at some point for her, but not enough to prevent you from using the name.
[name]Hattie[/name] is beautiful, don’t over think teasing issues, I dont think you need to worry.
[name]One[/name] of my favorite children’s books is called “[name]Hattie[/name] and the [name]Wild[/name] Waves”.
I think [name]Hattie[/name] is beautiful, and just so cute but I would only ever use it as a nickname for [name]Harriet[/name]. I worry about how well it ages, but I do think it goes nicely with [name]Lola[/name], and like others have said the names go better together than [name]Lola[/name] & [name]Harriet[/name] would. I wouldn’t worry about the teasing potential, Fattie [name]Hattie[/name] is something that would get old very, very quickly.
Ok thank you everyone! My dd’s name is a family name and we would love to stick to family names and we both love [name]Hattie[/name] so I am glad you don’t think it will give her a future of teasing;)
I think [name]Hattie[/name] is adorable! as others said I didn’t even think of the “hattie the fattie” thing. Like you im not a fan of [name]Harriet[/name] but like I said love [name]Hattie[/name]!
Great I think we have pretty much decided we will either use [name]Hattie[/name] [name]Mae[/name] or [name]Hattie[/name] [name]Susannah[/name] for next dd
I hate to be the one person on here with a negative take on this, but I think a little girl would be teased terribly being called “Fattie” whether she was fat or not.
I have an [name]Atty[/name] (her nickname) . AFTER we named her i realized Fatty, Braty, Catty and Ratty all rhymed. XD lol she is 5 1/2 andhasn’t been teased yet. I call her [name]Atty[/name] [name]Patty[/name] though, and always did, “[name]Atty[/name] cakes, [name]Atty[/name] cakes bakers man…” instead of [name]Patty[/name] cake. Lol
