I am writing a short story just for fun about five sisters living in an old Victorian in the mid-80’s. [name]Feel[/name] free to change around these names or suggest new ones. All the girls have long dark hair and fair skin. Their family is upper middle-class but casual and nice.
[name]Sister[/name] # 1 - Classically beautiful, Type A personality, smart and ambitious named [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Sister[/name] # 2 - Stylish and musical, petite dancer, gorgeous, glamorous and nice named [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Sister[/name] # 3 - Artsy and bohemian, taller, animal lover and more of a unusual beauty named [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Sister[/name] # 4 - Sensitive and sweet, smart but quiet, very delicate and almost angelic looking named [name]Emily[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Sister[/name] # 5 - Cute and charming all-around, outgoing and happy named [name]Molly[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
Thank you. I have never asked for advice on character names before so I appreciate your comments.
They’re okay, not bad at all. They just don’t stand out at all for me. I mean, when I see [name]Emily[/name]'s name I don’t remember or recall her as sensitive, sweet, smart and quiet, delicate and angelic looking. She’s just a name, I can’t really see a character to them.
Probably because there’s five of them, and I’m just hearing the names for the first time.
[name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], and [name]Olivia[/name] are great, but I think [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Molly[/name] need to be changed. [name]How[/name] about-
[name]Molly[/name] is the only one that doesn’t fit, stylistically. And I also suggest taking a look at which names were most popular during the Victorian period – I’m a little unsure as to [name]Olivia[/name], so it might be good to check and see whether it was something people were actually naming their children.
[name]Molly[/name] is a traditional nickname for [name]Mary[/name], so maybe she could be [name]Mary[/name] [name]Clare[/name] but goes by [name]Molly[/name]? [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] are very traditional names, maybe something like [name]Emma[/name] instead of [name]Emily[/name] which is a bit more stylistic and [name]Olive[/name] instead of [name]Olivia[/name]? I don’t know, they feel more modern than Victorian to me.
I’d suggest changing [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Molly[/name]. I’ve run out of ideas for [name]Molly[/name], but these sound a nice change for [name]Emily[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]. I think [name]Charlotte[/name] is in it’s right slot, though.
They all are nice enough names (: however, none too unusual or unique enough for me personally to remeber (just my opoinion though).Alos,I dont think of [name]Olivia[/name] as being “bohemian”.Maybe [name]Athena[/name]?
