DH and I are trying to name our little boy that’s due in 8 weeks. We have a middle name chosen - it’s a family name and one we both like, [name]Everette[/name]. However, we can’t seem to find a first name that is “it”. We were oddly in the same position with our DD and she didn’t get a first name until the day after she was born (a name that I still question).
DH seems to like biblical boy names. Popularity or trendiness don’t bother him in the least. I like classic, strong, traditional names. This go around I don’t care as much about popularity but I don’t want a name that’s too trendy. I also like longer names with lots of nickname options. I also like surnames as firsts.
Any suggestions? Our last name is [name]Wilson[/name] so the name will be ______ [name]Everette[/name] [name]Wilson[/name].
I would spell it [name]Everett[/name].
I somehow feel I prefer it pared with other surname names, not sure if it is your style though. But let’s see:
[name]Blaise[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Zane[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Levi[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Nolan[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Calvin[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Harvey[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Birch[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Lennox[/name]/[name]Lennon[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Joseph[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Channing[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]River[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
[name]Holden[/name] [name]Everette[/name]
What do you think?
Wow, you guys rock! Thanks for the many suggestions! I just sent my husband a list with them all. He said, “What did you just send to me, a book?!”. lol Now he’s watching YouTube videos and didn’t even read the list…sigh…men…
I agree about the [name]Everette[/name]/[name]Everett[/name] spelling many of you pointed out. It does look better/more masculine without the “e” on the end. It’s DH’s family name and they spell it with the “e”. However, I have seen a few documents without the “e”. I may just “forget” and spell it “[name]Everett[/name]” on the forms at the hospital ;). That’s how the name “[name]Doyle[/name]” started getting passed on as “Doyld” in his family - ha!
My favorites are:
[name]Nathaniel[/name] - #1 for me! swoon…for some reason DH doesn’t care for that one. I’m still holding out hope though.
[name]Levi[/name] - not long but I love the spunkyness and meaning.
[name]Lennox[/name]
[name]Channing[/name] - if it weren’t for Mr. [name]Tatum[/name], this name would appeal to me more.
[name]Joseph[/name] & [name]Matthew[/name] are nice but they are DH’s name. I’m not a fan of juniors. Maybe if I used one as a middle but I like [name]Everett[/name] better in that slot
[name]Benjamin[/name] - <3 However, a friend that says she’s never having kids has it picked out as a boy name. Does that mean it’s fair game?
Thaddeus - I’ve never considered it but I do like it. I wonder what DH will say to it. It’s one of those either love or hate sort of names.
Sebastian - one of my favs but too Little Mermaid for my family ;(
Alexander
Patrick - definitely a top name!
Phillip - love
Charles - love Charles, don’t like Charlie or Chuck. Would that be an issue? Idk.
Jacob - one of DH’s favs. Has been #1 for a while. I can’t help but wonder about that.
James - my dad’s name and multiple family members…a top contender for sure.
Felix - who doesn’t love a happy meaning?!
Dominic - fabulous name! People have commented that it’s too ethnic…really?!
Thanks for all the suggestions - now I have some narrowing and deciding to do. D-day is sneaking up. Hopefully a moment of clarity will come over me soon and this little boy will have name!
