Have name comments been removed?

Hello! Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

I have noticed recently that the layout of the names section of Nameberry has changed, but have name comments been removed, or are they somewhere else?

They have been removed for now at least.

Why? They were the best part of the site.

I believe there were multiple reasons behind it, including:

  • Loading speed. Comments were on a separate platform (Disqus) and there were many thousands of them, which slowed the site down considerably;

  • Difficulty of moderation. It’s impossible to monitor the comments sections of all of the 70k+ names in the database, and there were too many instances where posters got into arguments or used inappropriate language, which we obviously don’t want to have on the site;

  • Usefulness of content. There were plenty of excellent comments, of course, but there were also many thousands of comments which just said “[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite name” or “I knew a horrible one” or “I wouldn’t even name my dog this!” which didn’t really add anything useful to the page.
