Have you ever been called the wrong name?

no for me

Yes - I’ve gotten [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] so many times. And [name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f] once.

[name_f]My[/name_f] Health II teacher seems to think my name is [name_f]Jayda[/name_f] (which is close enough to [name_u]Jaden[/name_u]). I don’t really care, I’ve gotten misgendered a lot more, lol.

[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Hope[/name_f] but I get called [name_u]Holly[/name_u] and [name_f]Paige[/name_f] constantly for some reason

I remember being called [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] when I went to a [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] School class one week at a church that I didn’t usually go to. (I was like seven, I think) Apparently there was a girl in that class named [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f], and I looked like her? I got up the nerve when class was almost over to tell everyone that I was not [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f], and they were so surprised lol. I don’t think I’ve ever had any other experience with the wrong name besides that, though. (Though my grandma does call me [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], the name of my five year old cousin more than she does my actual name (Charlotte, which in her defense is very similar) and my three year old brother called me [name_f]Starlet[/name_f] today, for some reason…which I kind of love haha, so I hope he keeps an calling me that, ngl)

i’ve been called gianna and jaida mostly, but also ella and lily :upside_down_face:

Yes, [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] most recently! (They were close!)

I got called [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] and [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] in elementary school because apparently there were girls who looked like me with those names. [name_f]My[/name_f] friend said I looked like an [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] (which I take as a compliment :face_holding_back_tears:) and I’ve also gotten [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and [name_f]Emily[/name_f] (which I don’t mind) and once even [name_f]Amy[/name_f] (which I also don’t mind).

[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Michelle[/name_f], & I’ve gotten called [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] countless times in my life. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

[name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]!

I think that comes with the territory of having siblings

[name_f]My[/name_f] mom calls me by her sisters name all the time and they’re not even similar

Oh, yes, definitely.

Sometimes I get called by my brother’s name, sometimes I get called by my dog’s name… I’ve been called all sorts of things that aren’t even remotely close to my name (I’ve been called [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] more times than I can count!) :joy:

When I was in [name_f]Barcelona[/name_f], I was called [name_f]Montse[/name_f] (Montserrat) by several people before we realized that there was a Catalan girl my age who I resembled. It was quite shocking to the boy who scolded me for not answering him when I said I was American, lol. In [name_f]Italy[/name_f] and Spain I often went by my middle name (Elena) because my first name was too hard to pronounce.

growing up, people would constantly call me by my sister’s name (that has more to do with us looking alike than our names being similar). but otherwise no

All the time! [name_f]My[/name_f] parents mix up mine and my sisters names, my friends call me their other friends or siblings names by accident. [name_f]My[/name_f] name has been misheard as [name_f]Lily[/name_f] sometimes too

All. The. Time. Aside from parents calling a siblings name or something (not cause or names are similar, they’re completely different), [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], [name_m]Zaiden[/name_m], [name_m]Caiden[/name_m], any -den name, [name_f]Asian[/name_f] (Idk how they got Asian), [name_u]Clayton[/name_u], [name_f]Jen[/name_f], etc. In general I don’t mind correcting people but sometimes I wonder how the heck they get a completely different name from mine

Oh, all the time at my jobs. The one I get most often is [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].

Lol yes too many times & names to count

Yes. [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Tara[/name_f], but I get [name_f]Tamara[/name_f] and [name_f]Tanya[/name_f] fairly often. Once got [name_f]Tiara[/name_f]. I’ve got a complicated [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] surname that starts with van and sometimes I get van as a first name (the butchering of my surname is on another level altogether).
I have a younger sister, but interestingly my mother has never mixed us up, but has certainly called me by her sister Penney’s name on a few occasions. [name_f]My[/name_f] recently passed grandmother would often work her way through all nine of her granddaughters before getting to me, even though I was the eldest of all her grandchildren :joy:
