I used to be madly in love with the name [name_u]Oliver[/name_u]. At some point last year I think, I just randomly fell out of love with it. There’s no particular reason why, and I don’t dislike the name now. It’s just not on my list anymore, but it used to be my favorite boy’s name.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?
This happened to me with the names [name_m]Cesar[/name_m] and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f].
This happened to me with [name_f]Marisol[/name_f], I loved the name and now the spark is gone, quite a shame it’s such a lovely name and real popular on the site too
Hazel was the big one - absolutely adored it when I first went on the site 2 years ago and now just don’t care.
Other ones - [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] & [name_m]Reginald[/name_m].
Me with [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]! I don’t quite remember when I fell out of love with it (2016 I think?), but same thing, just randomly fell out of love with it after it being my top (and then 2nd top) girl name for a few years.
Hazel, [name_u]Regan[/name_u], [name_f]Christina[/name_f], [name_f]Priya[/name_f], [name_f]Varsha[/name_f], and a bunch of others.
Noelle. I’m very very big on [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] (or well the idea of it), but I don’t see myself using the name [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] anymore even though it used to be perfection captured in one name to me. Teenage me was definitely going to name a child [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. Mid-twenties me thinks that’s cute for someone else.
Boys
[name_u]Harry[/name_u] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u]
Girls
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. I still like these names but they are not in my top 3 options.
When I first found [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], I was like cool, nice name…now it’s like dust down in the cupboard. The glam has gone 100%
Evangeline. I was determined to have an [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u], and then eventually, I fell out of love with it. I’m not sure why. It’s so lovely.
Anastasia! It was my absolute favourite all throughout my childhood, and while I still love it, it most likely won’t ever be used by me
I am considering [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] but only as a middle… But funnily enough I am not too sure on it now…
Yes!
For no apparent reason i’ve recently stopped liking the name jasper!
(it was my favorite for years)
Eva. When I was first dreaming about having children with my DH and what we’d name them, [name_f]Eva[/name_f] was near the top of my list for a girl. [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] was a top combo for a while; I loved the quirkier middle to balance out the sleek and simple first. But the more I thought about it, the more I realised that it was the funky middle that really made the combo sparkle for me
I like [name_f]Eva[/name_f] still, and I still think it’s a stylish name and a great choice on many levels, but it’s definitely lost its spark for me.
Jasper for a boy too. I was torn between [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and [name_m]Casper[/name_m] for a while. I still really like both, but it’s [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] (with an A) that has definitely won out for me. The others I love to see on other people’s children, but wouldn’t use myself now.
Andrew & [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
This has definitely happened to me. I seem to go through phases of loving a name. I’ll think about it a lot and picture what it would be like to use it. Then sometimes I’ll just not love it as much anymore. I’m not sure the reasoning! Seems weird to me.
This happened to me with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. It used to be one of my absolute favorites, and then it fell out of my top 10 and eventually off my list entirely without me even realizing it. I still like the name and think it’s classy and smart, etc., but it’s just not for me at all anymore. I know there are others two, that’s just the most recent one. But on my old lists, names like [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], [name_f]Angelica[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_u]Finley[/name_u], and [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] (for me, too) have completely lost their edge for me.
Yep! I used be obsessed with a [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] and then one day I just wasn’t anymore. Nothing bad happened in association with the name, I just seemed to move on. It’s still lovely and on our list, but I don’t have the spark about it that I used to.
I used to love the name [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but the sparks gone, maybe it’s because my cousins friend named her daughter [name_f]Isla[/name_f]🤷🏼♀️
Yes, all the time! The biggest one to date though has been [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] for a boy–which I loved the life out of for years until I didn’t. Couldn’t even tell you why. It could be it’s rising popularity for girls–or maybe that I heard it used on a real child and then it didn’t seem so much like it belonged to me anymore.
