Having a hard time with baby #2's name, city theme!

When we found out out first daughter was a girl it seemed so easy to pick out her name! i had always wanted to kind of go with a name of a city, but we didnt want it to be too common, i.e., [name]London[/name], [name]Paris[/name], [name]Brooklyn[/name], etc. so i threw [name]Vegas[/name] out there and my husband loved it! We considered it very rare. No one we knew or know has used that name, and [name]Vegas[/name] [name]Lynn[/name] [name]Just[/name] fits who she is perfectly. Now we just found out that we are having another baby girl and we would like to stick with a city name, but again, less common. i mean we dont want to have the feeling that we have heard it for a child before. we also seem to not agree on anything this time around! we are not travelers, due to our financial situation, so its kinda hard to think of different city or town names. any suggestions?

A city name that is not usually given as a first name…[name]Do[/name] you have a connection to any state in particular? You could look online for a list of cities in that state, maybe.

[name]Phoenix[/name] (not very common, esp for girls)
[name]Berkeley[/name]
[name]Chandler[/name]
[name]Aspen[/name]

Some cities :
[name]Adelaide[/name] (Australia - pretty common as a name, though)
[name]Delphi[/name] (Greece)
[name]Rio[/name] (de Janeiro, [name]Brazil[/name])
[name]Olympia[/name] (Greece, actually a town nowadays)
[name]Memphis[/name] ([name]America[/name])
[name]Geneva[/name] (Switzerland)
[name]Florence[/name] ([name]Italy[/name] - again, fairly common as a name)
[name]Seville[/name] (Spain)
[name]Alexandria[/name] ([name]Egypt[/name] - fairly close to [name]Alexandra[/name], though).

There’s also [name]Verona[/name] and [name]Venice[/name]/[name]Venetia[/name], but both are pretty close to [name]Vegas[/name].

Good luck!

I would suggest [name]Raleigh[/name]

Others…

[name]Roma[/name]
[name]Milan[/name]
[name]Verona[/name]
[name]Vienna[/name]
[name]Brighton[/name]
[name]Margaux[/name]
[name]Pomona[/name]
[name]Abilene[/name]
[name]Memphis[/name]
[name]Dublin[/name]
[name]Lyon[/name]
[name]Valencia[/name]
Firenze

I didn’t know if you were looking for BIG cities, so only one of these is a big city. The rest are small cities/towns from the state in which we live.

Some Cities from around where I live that I [name]LOVE[/name] as names:

[name]Charleston[/name] (I know a little girl named [name]Charleston[/name] and she goes by [name]Charlee[/name])
[name]Camden[/name]
[name]Cameron[/name]
Elloree

Others that are possibilities:
[name]Harley[/name]
[name]Clover[/name]
Lexington

NOTEI have not looked up any of the meanings of any of these…my husband and I strongly considered using names from cities in the state we live, and these are the names from the girls list. None of the places (except [name]Charleston[/name]) are big cities.

[name]Rome[/name]? [name]Atlanta[/name]?

thank you all so much! these are some great suggestions!

I met a little [name]Boston[/name] this weekend, and it made me think of this post! He was really cute, but I think it could work for a girl too.

I really love the suggestion of [name]Havanna[/name] or [name]Tallin[/name],

[name]Vegas[/name] and [name]Havanna[/name]

[name]Vegas[/name] and [name]Tallin[/name] ([name]Tally[/name])

I second [name]Adelaide[/name] and of course [name]Victoria[/name] (state of Australia)
and if you like Italian style names then

[name]Milana[/name] for a girl after [name]Milan[/name]
and
[name]Roman[/name] for a boy after [name]Rome[/name]

I am going to [name]Tallin[/name] in a few weeks, who hoo!!! [name]Love[/name] the name btw.

PS twinkle with [name]Milan[/name] and [name]Rome[/name] you are thinking along the same lines as I am.

PS2 [name]Peter[/name] after [name]St[/name] Petersburg (love The Hermitage there).

I love [name]Raleigh[/name] (reminds me of Rally, which to me seems like [name]Dash[/name] and some other cute boys names), [name]Aspen[/name], & [name]Seville[/name]. Monaco is cute too…

I think Tempe would work well with [name]Vegas[/name] they have the same kind of feel at least to me
